Reno, Nevada is in the northwest part of the state and is known as "The Biggest Little City in the World." The city is close to many attractions like Lake Tahoe and has made a name for itself with casinos, art, and a good food scene. I spent a few days exploring the city with my dad and here are some of our favorite spots. What did we leave off this list? Let us know in the comments.

I moved to Reno more than 25 years ago and you hit many of the highlights! With the exception of this pandemic year, there is always something going on in Reno ! From the pub crawls to the many events (Artown, Rodeo, Rib Cookoff, Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations, Balloon and Air Races, cultural festivals) and outdoor activities (hiking, skiing, climbing, snowshoeing, kayaking, skydiving) there is never a dull moment! I think I need to do the mural walk as there are several in the video that I have yet to see! Thank you for sharing!

Of course, as he said, there is much more, and I will add only a few places, such as Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, the Nevada State Historical Museum, The Pyramid, at Pyramid Lake (from onshore), Truckee, CA (another 25-minute drive, and half-day excursion with an "old town), antique row, which a bunch of antique stores on S. Virginia in mid-town, Scheels (I rarely pitch businesses, but this place is fun), and, if you are a science nerd, try to get a tour of the Desert Research Institute, plus, finally, come on one of the great event weekends, such as Hot August Nights (old cars) or the Nevada Air Races ! The Wilber D May museum is a popular school trip destination. It also has a reputation for being haunted in some way, usually involving the shrunken heads opening and closing their eyes. Virginia city has a ton of old fashioned candy stores. If your looking for another reason to visit. Summer in Reno adds a ton to this list. July is Artown, a one month festival centered on the river walk featuring concerts, art displays, Shakespeare and other plays. August has Hot August Nights, a week long celebration of the 50s, mostly centered around cars. There's also a chili cookoff, a massive rib cookoff, the national championship rodeo, balloon races(you want to be out there at dawn for this one) the Air races. A restaurant option that might be oddly unique to Reno is the Nugget Oyster Bar. They have the expected sea food options, and something called Pan roasts, a made to order chowder type dish that is insanely good.

Nice list. Definitely some new things for me to check out. But, you left off the Terry Lee Wells Nevada DISCOVERY Museum at 490 S Center St. If you have kids, it's even better, but there's plenty for adults too enjoy, too. I've been to many different science, technology, and children's museums, and this one is really great at combining those three aspects into one entertaining and educational museum. No food or drinks inside, but there are convenient eats within easy walking distance.

Those giant rings in front of the museum represent wedding rings and hark back to the days Reno was known as the "divorce capital of the world" from 1909 to 1970. It was short to establish residency (thus all the roadside weeklies) and grounds for divorce were very lenient, which brought couples from all over the world to split the knot. Afterward many liberated lovers walked out of the courthouse and tossed their rings in the Truckee. People still do it, and in the summer you can see metal detectors wading around searching for preciousss :D And "The Basement" is in the old post office; too bad the top has closed because it is really cool with all the old PO boxes and art-deco design :)

I'm born and raised Reno, there are also multiple trails all over town as well as some other sights to see, In spring and summer its good to go walk through both Bartley Ranch and Rancho san Rafael (where the Wilbur Museum is at) as well as seeing the rodeo at the livestock events center, though not gonna lie Reno is getting expensive to live in due to the tech boom in the area and the cost of housing has risen to a point where its a miracle most people are able to keep up with the rising rent costs

I remember 250 - 500 being rent for studio-2 maybe 3 bdr houses. But times change my grandparents bought their only home on what was a dirt road named Arlington for 5k, times are always changing. Inflated prices are everywhere. Many homeless accross the US.

Visit The Halfway Club. An incredible Italian restaurant that, just recently, Grandma Inez, who had cooked incredible meals, passed away. The half and half is amazing; half ravioli, and half spaghetti. Add the meatballs. These aren't your typical meatballs, these are the size of your fist! Everything is cooked homemade, and, ask them how you can write your name on their wall! Hint...make sure to have a designated driver!

I'm homeless and love this vacation city. The only place I know of where you can thrive and not just survive dispite your class (upper, lower or middle). I think I will try that rock climbing. How many homeless in the world love the city where they reside? Well I love this city, so much opportunity here. I'm about to work, get a home, it's great, the American dream. An I was homeless with a 1st grade education. This is the city to come to.

I have been lucky enough to have visited Reno 5 times through work. I live in UK. I really enjoy my time there. Virginia city is a must visit. Reno arch and Silver Legacy, Atlantis and GSR casinos. Pegs Eggs for food downtown and it has a lovely mural outside. Barwarchi indian cuisine, Pho restaurant at Sierra center parkway, Bistro 7, La Posada Real at Longley lane for Mexican food, if you fancy a drive then try Jason's Beachside Grille at North lake Tahoe at King's Beach.

I've stayed at every casino's hotel, here are my ratings in order. 1. Grand Sierra Resort 2. Circus Circus 3. Silver Legacy 4. El Dorado 5. Atlantis Atlantis just sucks, ElDo wifi kicks off every 5 minutes. GSR has a huge pool, indoor mall and is outstanding. Only thing bad ab it is the prices. Circus Circus has the best wifi of all casinos, and a gigantic arcade. Silver Legacy is the tallest building in Reno and has a beautiful interior while the green lights that light up every night make it 10x better.
