In this video I use my homemade hair jig to catch some big Bass at Lake Lanier. The fish were slowed down from a cold front, and in these conditions a small finesse bait like a hair jig can be deadly. Watch until the end to see these awesome fish! Thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing so you don't miss an episode!

Dana: FYI: you have a great channel, but you already know that. I pray it grows and grows and grows. Thank you! I can only imagine the amount of time that goes into each episode. I know I appreciate your work and I’m pretty sure all your other subs do as well. Be safe, catch lots, God Bless!

Thanks for another TIMELY video. I almost feel guilty getting all this great content sitting in my recliner while you’re freezing your rear end off. I appreciate your commitment to providing instructional content that I can actually use!

Great vid Dana, I ALWAYS enjoy your vids, Saturday was NOT a good day for me, my boater and I went up to a part of the lake called the BRANCH, my boater was a GREAT boater, my boater caught the big fish of the tournament, a 6 lb 6oz’er, but I couldn’t capitalize on anything, I used jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, shakeyheads, the high winds and cold front did a number on me, BUT, even though may have had a SETBACK, in March, I WILL make a COMEBACK, I will not give up, I CAN do this and I WILL, THANKS for all you vids and support 🎣

You have the right attitude. I was afraid the cold front would slow things down. I know the wind was relentless. All you can do is keep at it and things will fall into place.

Hated to see that zero by your name, I was thinking I’m gonna have to show U how to catch a fish, LOL. Then I saw your boater only caught 1 fish, a 6lber, so y’all wasn’t around any fish, he just got a lucky bite. Did you lose any?

@@livinglife3230 On the graph we saw them , but they just wasn’t biting, my boater caught that bass between 8:30 and 9 that morning, he threw his jig up on a bank, brought it down in the water , then, BANG, that 6.6 bass hit it, and that was the ONLY bite we had , we went up to a part of Lanier called the Branch, very high winds, chocolate milk water, I’ll be ready for them in March fam, how was your tourney

Would love it if you’d be more specific about lure weight, color, line size, leader, and how exactly you’re fishing it. Bumping off bottom? I think it would be helpful to include more info

I have gone over that stuff so many times that I kind of assume everyone knows it already. I will try to make it a point to be more specific more often. It's harder than it looks to remember all the things to say. Talking to the camera is something that I struggled with for the longest time, but I'm working on it. I keep it really simple. For colors I use black and blue on my big jigs and Chartreuse on my hair jigs, that's about it. Thanks for watching!

@@FCPFishing No biggie.. I just noticed that most hosts start with a very brief setup for rod/reel/line/lure just to give folks an idea of how they're approaching it. Keep up the good work.

@@pricefutrell5871 Thanks! I tend to do things a bit different. All winter long I've pretty much used two lures : a 1/4 oz black and blue jig with a chunk style trailer and a chartreuse buck tail jig. I make the hair jigs in several different sizes, so it depends on depth and wind speed. That's pretty much it.

Every fish is a gift, in my opinion. Some guys only want Stripers, the tournament guys only want Bass. I don't understand that kind of thinking. I like catching them all. Thanks for watching!

Sorry, but I am tying to protect my design, but you can use virtually any buck tail jig and they will work. It's more about the technique than the lure.

I'd love to compare notes with you, I've been at it as long as you have. It is a bit of a long story, but I won't post up close pics of my jigs. They have some unique design features and a couple local manufacturers want to copy them and sell them, but they don't want to share profits or compensate me in any way. I've been advised to protect my design for now.

It depends on the situation. If I'm seeing suspended fish, I will count it down and start working it at the depth I see the fish at.

I make my own jigs and I make them from 1/16 oz all the way up to 3/4 oz. It all depends on depth and wind speed as to which size I use.
