The Gatornationals is known for its long and eminent history, and Gainesville Raceway is considered one of the fastest tracks on the NHRA circuit. The first 260-, 270-, and 300-mph Top Fuel runs were recorded there, along with several record-setting e.t.s. This week, we will look at the broadcast from one of the most memorable editions of the event, the 1992 Gatornationals.

I love watching the old NHRA, I used to watch all these racers as a kid. I still have all my racer cards from the pit stop!

I was awestruck when I saw Kenny Bernstein crack 300 on TV. Later that year at the US Nationals I witnessed Bernstein's second 300 mph pass (4.86 @ 301.20) during qualifying. This was a magical era in drag racing.

Hoping to see the first 4.9 seconds & 300mph pass in Top Alcohol this year, if not I know it will within the next 5 years with the Nitro Injected rules

Don Garlits had to be removed from the tower when this record was that he threw a fit. Accused Bernstein of cheating and said the record was not real lol. Kenny Bernstein will always be the king of speed. One of the best top fuel pilots to ever be strapped into a race car
