I haven't thrown in porcelain for years, but I love watching you throw it into such elegant shapes. Mesmerizingly beautiful and that's even before you add your lovely crystalline glazes on them.

The blowtorch method is new to me, but brilliant... especially for that buttery porcelain. What a great way to stretch out that short window of throwability!! Well done.

Very nice! If I were to attempt a piece like that I'd trim the foot first because with my luck, after spending so much time on the mouth, that's the part I'd screw up. :-)

Does the neck close when the clay shrinks? Will trapped air be a problem? Gorgeous!

What is the practical purpose of making such a vase? It's basically just a clay sphere

I've noticed a lot of crystalline potters throwing similar shapes (bulbous vessels with long narrow necks). I'm just curious why that is.

Beautiful! Amazing technique, too. Can you share what kind of rib you are using? And what blow torch brand you use? I love your work. Thank you for sharing!
@Matthornepottery

Generally I'll use Mudtools stainless ribs (shapes 4 & 5) :) and the blow torch was from a company called Bullfinch Gas.

It dries it out to make the clay firmer and easier to work with when making shapes like this :)

I don't see any use for this pottery other than decoration. Just not practical with such a small top unless have one very tall flower lol. In the ancient times pottery was used for collecting water and storing food and cooking. Not so much anymore.

I'm no expert but it looked like about a softball amount. The way it was on the wheel looked about how much I use (about the size of a softball) everyday. I hoped this helped.
