Back in 1993 or 1994, I also managed to complete the game in Maniac mode getting killed not even once. A couple of months ago I tried to play this game after many years and I lost all my lifes before getting to the first boss in normal mode (getting old sucks LOL).

Insane!! I really love that "In your face, bite me... Na Na!!... Oops, over here moron" approach to your boss fights dude!!! This playthrough really does characterize the intent of the design of the craft, mainly "high mobility."

This has to be the best shmup ever. What a masterpiece (gameplay, intensity, music!, balanced weapons) and so perfect that will unable to be remastered. for Thunder Force IV, Thank you Tecnosoft!

When I was a kid, this was me. Mastered it and didnt even really consider it very hard. Tried to play it recently got my ass handed to me so bad that it was hard to believe I was ever any good at the game. Bad ass game tho. One of the more underrated games of the generation. Rocking soundtrack. I put this game up there with Streets of Rage 2 in the top tier Genesis library.

I love the music in this game....even the slow-ups seemed to add to the epic-ness. At least it did for me, anyway.

Stage 9 and the final boss were some great fights with some great music, but Stage 1's boss is the most epic by a landslide! Best track with the best boss.

Go figure, I search for a tas of my first Shooter and you've already beasted it. Keep this up and I might just have to stay on you're channel. Stellar job though! xD

I always held an amount of respect for the mission 5 boss. It barely hangs on, fighting you to the kast despite being reduced to an easily avoidable attack. Makes me wish there was an option to spare it if you kept dodging it's attack for up to a minute

One thing thats pretty good to know a walk through is not the same as a playthrough and this game just doesnt need or is even possible to do a walk through. This is a play through.

Epic game... i still play it. Amazing skill!

For me this is not only the best sideways scrolling shooter of all time but also one of my favourite games. The only faults are the occasional bit of slow down and a lack of 2 player.

When I was young I found the options screen (dpad+any button) and put lives to 0 and level to maniac for 99 lives. I thought I’d found the most awesome secret ever. Now I could get somewhere! As an older person I don’t do that any more coz really what’s the point. I can get quite far in normal now without the cheat. It’s much more fun actually having to try. I’m actually kind of dope at this game even though I can’t complete it even on normal with all the continues. I can get to the second to last boss but stopped playing it a few years ago. I’ll get there. Nobody has mentioned this before but this game actually has adaptive difficulty. If you play well, additional enemies appear which don’t even feature on mania mode.

it's really not as impossible as you think. if you notice, he does take hits to his shield occasionally, and you can use the claw much like the r-type's force to eat minor bullets, protecting you. this is just skill.

'better late than never : it's probably because you're playing on default Normal difficulty, where some of the slowdown is actually intentional (see Srite mini-boss before the ship goes undersea, for example), while some is not (same stage, under the big enemy ship, when it whips its tail). Blade seems to be especially lag inducing (mini-boss in the ruins can runs smoothly in maniac under some circumstances). (I used an overclocked MD to check that in case you're wondering.)

Epic run! A question: you say it's a nomiss run, but at the very beginning, there are too many ennemies and you do miss some of them. Do you mean it's no miss "as much as is feasible in the game"?

dude. one thing maybe u havent noticed. that boss on strite stage. u have to shoot him above the tail towards that fire ball inside him. i watched u shooting him a lot in the face. it doesnt damage him.

Fake. Like previously mentioned, the player doesn't know the weak points of the bosses and just shoots randomly, plus moving through many of those tight passages at 100% speed is pretty much impossible on the first try.
