Wow. Me an Kelly have been trying to tackle this one for awhile. We have made many, many, trips. More often than not there is a police car or paid security posting up. However we were able to get lucky! We made it into the hotel side first. Then finally came back and made it into the Waterpark side. Amazingly untouched. The police had condemned it years ago and it never re opened. Air still in the tubes. Pillows still pressed. Check it out. Its dope.
IF YOU KNOW WHERE THIS LOCATION IS. PLEASE DO NOT ADVERTISE IT.

Awesome!! This place is amazing, I appreciate the dedication to getting inside and documenting it! Who knows, in a few years it could be demolished, or they stop paying the security and it just gets vandalized. Excellent video!! 8:34 Love that picture, Kelly does a great job with the stills.

I remember going here with all of my friends for a birthday party when I was in 7th grade. It’s so crazy how it looks now... I remember going on all of those slides! but we stayed the night and all of us had a terrible cough from the poor ventilation of the waterpark. The only ‘clean’ air was either in the bathroom or you had to leave the water park area to get fresh air.

I came here when I first moved here in 2006, my cousins from Norway also with us, on the black bowl slide, one of them hit their head pretty hard on the exit of the bowl and had to get stitches. I remember seeing a lot of bad press about this place during it's final years, and apparently a water line exploded on one the top floors about 3 years ago.

I've been here before they closed. It was in 2012 with my cousins. I remember that the place was a mess when I went at least. The rides were very dirty and a bunch of the arcade games were broken. I also remember going on the inner tube ride and going down the hole backwards. Seriously, I thought that was a safety hazard. They closed due to fire concerns apparently, but I wouldn't be surprised if other factors also played a part in it. Many online reviews have also stated that the hotel rooms had bedbugs, which isn't good at all.

I remember I went there when I was 6 or 7 and I got stuck at the top of the inclosed slide right before it went down into the pool. Luckily I was stuck there but I was scared that I would get stuck in one part of the slide and wouldn't be able to get out lol. Idk if it was a safety hazard but it gave me nightmares.

I worked here for a while doing banquets. When the place first opened it was amazing. It was always busy, had a great atmosphere, was super clean, all kinds of events. Then the ownership changes started and they started not caring. They would run weird promos and events and started having issues with riff raff coming in and causing problems. Pair that with the roaches and bed bugs and the fact that they used way too much chlorine (to try to combat bugs in the water park). I believe it changed hands 3 times before shutting down. But man when I first started working there (and up until the first ownership change), it was such an amazing place to visit, stay, and even work. Super sad that it went downhill. It also doesn’t sit in the greatest area. Definitely not an area that people flock to for tourist type things.

I know the people who first opened it, i got to go there for free at least once a month :( After they sold it it went to shit since the new owners weren’t keeping up on everything, definitely a weird spot to put a waterpark, but it was so fun and clean at first ! Shit was like a hidden treasure of columbus, i’m glad the people i know took care of it while they had it at least :)

Crazy. I went here some years ago. I would love to look around it alone. I didn't stay in their hotel area (thank God, apparently by the end stages when I got there they were dealing with a bug infestation). I remember the entrances to the big slides were at a high elevation. There must have been a leak or something by the time I went there because you would come down those slides with a cough, probably from chlorine rising. I guess I was only mildly alarmed that I got chlorine gassed like a WW1 trench runner.

Quick question, was there security when you guys went? My friends and I went today and had to avoid many cars and people. We made it in to the kitchen area but had to leave right away bc some people opened the front doors

I remember it being very muggy and it smelled like chlorine. My guess is the ventilation system was way off. All this place needs is an upgraded HVAC system and new toys 😆

I bet that abandoned hotel and indoor water park would be turned into a beautiful new ymca boys and girls club community center. That way it will help save kids from aces like abuse and bullying. I can't believe that the owner failed to address health and safety violations because he's been extremely neglectful a lot.

Lol. I love that u put this. I saw in a few really old comments someone said that they (the channel) didn't want to give away the location or something? The camera work is making me dizzy so I'm out. But I think it's ridiculous when channels are like "oh we don't want to give the location" as if google isn't a thing or like this is some top secret government facility 🙄. Just be honest n say u are a channel with only 565 subs n don't want to give away the location so other bigger you tubers don't come here n steal your thunder🤣

It was on hotel impossible's last episode on the last season. I think it was 2019 it had so many bed bugs and Cockroach it was a infested place. The workers went home with bed bugs on them and they didn't even sleep there they were in the couches the video games all kinds of electronics. The two Indian guys who bought it for a steal could only afford to eradicate bed bugs from half of the hotel so they closed the other half. The water park had major issues in the episode. And the last video I saw on KZfaq about this it had went through a major cutting. It will probably be better torn down at this point. If I remember right in the TV episode they said it cost 50 million to build. And the two guys bought it for 2.1 million at its second auction. Which for a place that big is a steal. had they just care a little bit enough to keep it up to date and do a few minor upgrades in maintenance. This probably would still be a great hotel. Look how well a Great Wolf Lodge has done and the other one I can't remember its name. Due to cedar points being so close. Hope someone can eventually one day renovate the whole place and eradicate the bug infestation and maybe turn this thing back into something. Hell would make a good place for Google to start another place.

Bruh, I know this is that other place you said not to tell, but this building seemed so familiar (decor wise) to the water park/ hotel in Pigeon Forge all the way south in TN. Been a while though.. my god, almost ten years (summer of 2011.)

Ohio has too many indoor water parks so its no wonder why the mismanaged ones like Maui Sands, Fort Rapids, and Coco Key closed down. California only has one by comparison with a second one set to open in 2021. This looked like it was trying to be a knockoff of a Great Wolf Lodge, which is the market leader in indoor water parks. Really nice Columbus sunset from the roof by the way.

Lol, this is Fort Rapids just outside Columbus. Not far from where I live. Heard they closed it cause of sanitary issues? Got the nickname "Crapids" from locals. Regardless, the fact that the rooms are all made and actually look super high quality is insane! You'd never be able to tell that the place was secretly a total shithole under all that. It almost looks like there are people constantly maintaining it despite it having been closed for half a decade. (Also, not a very good censoring job. You can see the name at 7:15 and multiple other times inside the park.)

Even if they could bring Fort Rapids up to code and reopen it, one would have to question how much business sense it would make to invest the money, since they would be competing with three similar destinations just a couple hours away: two Great Wolf Lodges, one to the southwest in Mason (Near Cincinnati), and one to the north in Sandusky, as well as a Kalahari Resort, also in Sandusky.
