Well, for old bond soundtracks I would actually probably agree with that. I must not have realized you said "of the old bond soundtracks". The newer David Arnold scores are probably the only soundtracks that are more intense.

This probably is the best soundtrack in the entire Bond catalogue closely followed by "The Living Daylights." John Barry was a composer non pareil. Sounds as fresh as it sounded several decades ago.

My favorite Bond flick and soundtrack are from "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE". When it came out in 1965 "THUNDERBALL" was the first Bond film I ever saw in a theater (when I was just 7 years old) and the opening freaked me out when that "widow" fighting Bond (SPOILER ALERT!) turned out to be a man! Good thing I didn't see "PSYCHO" until I was a teenager. The co-feature to "THUNDERBALL" was a re-release of "DR. NO" and the tarantula crawling on Bond scared me too! I was into horror movies & stuff but Bond packed action, thrills, humor, beautiful women spies, super villains and even horror! What's not to like?

@@eeddieedwards3890 Yes , ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. is good too. John Barry never failed to impress. Gone are those good old days of Bond action flicks. The Spy Who Loved me is my favorite Bond movie till date. With the introduction of computer graphics in the 90s , Bond movies have become indistinguishable from other action movies - lacking most of the the characteristics you've mentioned.

My all time favorite Bond movie is "The Spy who Loved me" - which was shot at exotic locales and had all the other classic Bond movie features that defined Bond movies of the 70s and 80s. That is a bygone era. I don't find the Bond movies post 90s appealing in a way that the older movies did. They seem indistinguishable from regular action flicks and are also devoid of other classic Bond trademarks you've mentioned.

The soundtrack of this movie, for me, is peak "bond sound". Furthermore, the best score, personally, is the so called underwater ballet, just perfect at capturing an underwater set piece.
