No CGI, no green screen. Everything you see on the screen had to be made in miniature. Every single prop. and yet the attention to detail was stunning. Beautiful designs. What an achievement. Many of the vehicles were actually made out of wood. A modellers dream

@@tictac3207 Spot on. Far too many modern filmmakers have an over reliance on CGI to the detriment of believably. I understand why they use it (cheaper, faster) but even the best effects still look like big budget video games.

Bolan K The same beautiful miniature sets of Thunderbirds, UFO tv series and Space 1999 and Stingray and many others were all from the creative genius of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and their talented crew of studio personnel. UFO was always my personal favorite. Comprised of only 26 episodes in only one season, it made a lasting impression on me all these years. They used brilliant color film and realistic miniature sets that were much admired by the makers of Japanese films. Had the acting not been termed “wooden” by the critics it probably would have went on several more years. It was the same problem that plagued the first year of Anderson’s next series, Space 1999. Barbara Bain was much better in Mission Impossible than Space:1999 and so was Martin Landau. Barbara was still lovely but her hair style in Space1999 was not flattering to her at all in my opinion. Landau was also not believable as a Space Commander, not little Ed Bishop as Commander Straker on UFO, but was an awesome actor and very talented. Anyway, Awesome Producers of some of the best sci-fi on tv ever.

I think one of the sadder aspects of the attempts at newer versions is that the wonder of all the miniatures, the modelmaking -- and the very real and massive-appearing explosions! -- just cannot be duplicated with CGI. I've watched a couple of episodes of the CGI version of "Captain Scarlet" and had to stop. :-( I know that modern costs are likely prohibitive, but I'd love to see more of the old Century 21 SuperMarionation shows brought back (with new episodes) with actual models instead of just being one more "look what our expensive computers can do" animated show.

They have attention to the science as well; I looked up how high 250000 feet would be, and it's 47 miles high and change---still technically within Earth's atmosphere.

I have not seen this in almost 55 years. So much better now than on a black and white tv with rabbit ears. I forgot how well done this kids show was. So wonderful to see this again and realize that the producers of this show had respect for children watching this, and that the children could learn something and that they were not talked down too! It was a wonderful time back then!

95 and my mom introduced me to this show. The level of detail and the way everything and all the characters move is so lifelike and the stories are so well written,,, all the rescues and espionage, It's great for kids and adults! They put a lot of time and effort into these, I'd love to see more shows like this again today.

I was first shown Thunderbirds in 2006, a good forty-one years after Trapped In The Sky aired. It was love at first sight for me. Even now, I'd still say on the whole it's aged incredibly well. Apart from a couple of things, you'd never guess that this was made at a time when The Beatles were still together (still touring even).

The incredible design and special effects glory of Derek Meddings ensured that Thunderbirds was always going to be a success. His work still stands up well against todays heavily CGI augmented special effects rubbish that everywhere now.

Well. I still think CGI is alright. Not the best as hand drawn, stop motion or Flash, but it's good enough. There are some that has great CGI animation (like Pocoyo, The Peanuts Movie or the Sony animated movies).

I wouldn't say it's "rubbish," it's just different. Supermarionation nowadays would be a very inefficient and expensive way to make a TV show.

@@adelaideautowashes Yeah, you can't employ 15 year olds to do craftsman work in producing shows using models. But CGI is done using a very cheap and young workforce. Sadly it really shows.

We Japanese watched the TV show of the Thunderbirds on the national TV station in my childhood before 1970. That age we can't have a color TV , so we watched it in the monochrome tv. It was awesome ! it's my important memories.

Gerry Anderson shows of the 60s and 70s were like that. The difference with Thunderbirds, though, is that its 45-minute runtime allowed for disasters to unfold naturally. Keep in mind that there will never be a Gerry Anderson series darker than Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, where bodycounts often went into the double-digits PER EPISODE.

The best of the best, that influenced the wild imagination of young kids (and kids at heart) for more than a generation. A lot of love for the craft (and patience) went into making these episodes. Half a century later, it still is, absolutely impressive.

I remember watching Thunderbirds as a kid in the 80s, brings back a lot of great memories. Such a great show, and very gripping for a kids show... I mean, terrorism, modern technology etc. The models created for this show is just amazing, I doubt something like this will ever be replicated again.

I was born in '64 and watched this as a child around 4-9 years old. I was fascinated by the puppetry, the models, and the stories. After that much time has passed, I enjoyed watching the pilot after so many years. I wonder if my grandchildren will enjoy these close to original episodes? We can watch it together.

It's amazing how much attention to detail they put into the production! I mean the small things like warning signs in the craft, conduit on the wall of the cockpit, everything. I believe this is what allowed us all to "suspend disbelief" and be drawn into the story. Thank you for posting these!

Fun Fact: Derek Meddings (who created most miniature effects of "Thunderbirds" and other Gerry & Sylvia Anderson's Series) also worked on the James Bond Films (up until "Goldeneye", the last Bond Film he worked on before he passed away 😔).

I was only 6 in 1970 when I first became a fan of Thunderbirds. Of course, I still love it. All time hero was Scott. I met and interviewed Shane Rimmer himself for a Community Magazine I wrote for in Wolverhampton in 1982, and was just 18 at the time. Thanks Shane for making my dream come true. Not many people can claim to have met Scott Tracy himself in his own home, (NOT Tracy Island, I might add), be served lunch and drinks, and a recorded interview, which now dosen't exist unfortunately. Thunderbirds forever!

Gotta love the Canadians! Shane Rimmer is one of my favorite actors. While we love his work for the Anderson's, Shane holds the absolute record for appearing in the most James Bond films. What a shame you no longer have that interview. Such a great experience you had!

I watched it back in the 60's, after it went into syndication. One of our local TV stations ran it Saturday mornings at 05:30 a.m., just before the regular cartoon broadcasting began. I bounced out of bed bright and early at 5 a.m., grabbed my cereal and headed downstairs to watch. Usually I was by myself, unless there was an early NASA broadcast scheduled afterward, in which case my dad would join me and we'd watch them together. Dad would explain the Apollo broadcast reports to me as best he could, and I loved those times so much! I also caught my first Star Trek episodes in the evenings. It was 1968, I was 5-6 years old and it was a great time to be alive! 😁

This incredible show was a big part of my childhood! Local station happened to have the brain to air it in the 90's. Especially the Fireflash sabotage, flying into the sun and the car racing / motion censor bomb eps stuck big-time. One of the all-time great TV productions for sure!

My father, a captain of the Brazilian Army was transferred to another city and the rest of the family, including me, had to move along. I wasn't worry about anything but to know if in this new city they had "International Rescue" on TV. One day, my mom told me she found the channel showing it. Hooray! My life was saved!

The late Gerry Anderson is smiling from heaven. He was so proud of his accomplishments that he applied it to Space 1999. Sadly, the American market was not interested. I’m 55…and this series started when I was a child. I’m still amazed at the quality of work.

I remember watching these reruns at my grandparents house and being completely enthralled. Then they made a resurgence in the 90s and I had all the toys including Tracy Island and now as a grown man I play Starfield and pretend I'm a Tracy on a rescue mission! This show is amazing

I used to watch this show in b&w. When we finally got a color TV, I ran home from school to watch it and it had been cancelled. Fast forward 25 years. I went to take my mom shopping one Saturday morning. While I was waiting, I turned on the TV and the local Canadian station was showing two episodes as one. This show and one from later in the series. I asked my mom if she could wait until the show was over. She knew how much I wanted to see this on MY TV. She went about the house doing this and that while I was in heaven. When it was over, she just got her list and her purse and headed for the car. She said nothing about the smile on my face. I have to thank CBET channel 9 in Windsor and my mom, may she rest in peace, for my first time seeing this in color. This was one of the best shows in my memories. Gerry Anderson did well with Captain Scarlett, UFO and Space 1999, but Jeff and the boys are still the tops.

Thunderbirds for sure had a very big influence on my childhood in the 60's, I was fascinated with the aircraft, equipment and the wonderful stories, I didn't miss an episode. I remain fascinated with aviation, having been a pilot for 44 years and still in awe of Thunderbirds.

I became a mechanical engineer, worked hard in my profession, and the best thing I ever learned from Thunderbirds was "there is always a way to solved it!" Therefore, many works of my life came to me and were solved by thinking, there is nothing impossible, I can find a answer to that! In Thunderbirds, they discuss the solution, improvise their existing equipament and find a solution to save lifes. This is a message for us, to do the best for solving problems and saving lifes, using the technology we have, with inteligence and creativity to adapt it to the required condition. I love them and God bless their talentous team/ producers. Their works are fantastic and inspiring!

I am German (born in 1961). A co-worker made me aware of this show. He was raised in Japan and as later as an adulte he did not have words this.

I never got to see these in the Netherlands when I was a kid but I still love to watch these episodes. I have seen this first episode more than once and it kind of amazed me that only now I noticed the wrong pictures being on the wall at the end. When the doctor is visiting and Scott and Gordon are zoomed in, the pictures on the wall show them in the International Rescue uniforms

I used to wake up at 05h30 to watch the Thiunderbirds which was a slot-filler at 06h00. in the warm-up for Thunderbirds, I was thus introduced to a rotation of programs which started at 05h00, these being The Baron, Dangerman, and Gideon's Way, which resulted in shifting my wake-up time ahead of the 05H00 shows. Just the mention of the latter three brings back the taste of a particular breakfast cereal I must have been eating at the time. Thunderbirds are champions. Great credit to everybody on the production team!

This series is as old as I am now... and it's held up remarkably well. I even like quite a few of the plotlines and overall story portrayed. They are fun to watch, exciting and edge-of-your-seat. Sure, the puppet aspect takes some getting used to but as others have mentioned, everything was handmade and all the special effects are real. Incredible stuff.

One if my favourite episodes, I loved the elevator cars and fire flash was just an amazing plane, Thunderbirds is just a amazing show and whenever you watch it again you notice things you haven't see before

Can't believe I just found this upload in 2019. Awesome! Yes, I just had a flashback to childhood years. It was a great surprise to see "the cast" again after all those years! Wow, I had forgotten them all until now. Oh yeah! Engineer Brains, and Lady Penelope with the cigarette holder of course! An amazing show, put together by people who loved to entertain and capture the imagination of kids. They did a fine job. Great upload!

I never got to watch his as a kid. It truly was an awesome achievement and I think Star Wars owes some tribute to this production team! I’m pleasantly surprised at the craftsmanship and design. And the puppets, while creepy to a degree, are well done considering.
