They also let the Germans re arm in Syria to attack us in Iraq when we had our backs to the wall and struck a deal to let the japs use French Indo China to attack us in Singapore so their men got to go home. and never suffered the death railway.

Australian , New Zealand ( anzac forces ) and French ( battalion of the Pacific ) will be stationed on this island ...I am still amazed that on "you tube" nobody talks about it and that many people consider that the French resistance was close to zéro...and that England was " alone " against the nazi during 1940 -41 .

Thank you for your comment. I have served as staff sergeant in the 16° BCP (Chasseurs, equivalent to Rangers) in Saarburg (1997-2001) and my military appartment was in Trier... it's important to have strong allies, but also some arguing voice as Friends when it's necessary.

@@thomasharter8161 Il en restait beaucoup les 8, 16 et 19 GC (Chasseurs, 2° et 10° DB) ainsi que le 110° RI (BFA - Donaoschingen)... j'étais le sous-off liquidateur du 19°GC dissout (Villingen) et j'ai rendu les clés aux allemands, je crois en 99 ou en 2000... le 8° GC (Wittklich) a sauté et sa compagnie pro a rejoint le 16°GC (Saarburg). le 16°GC rebaptisé 16°BCP (professionalisé) a quitté l'allemagne au milieu des années 2000 il est à Bitche maintenant. il doit resté tous les régiments de la Brigade Franco-Allemande dont le 110 °RI. Le RDragons de Saarburg avait été dissout avant mon arrivée en 1997. J'ai 2 potes de promotion de l'EAABC qui sont allés en Allemagne dans un RCuir et dans un RDragons sur AMX 30B2, j'ai oublié le nom des villes allemandes. Ils ont dût être rapatriés ou dissout depuis... sauf s'ils sont dans la BFA.J'ai en tête des garnisons françaises après mon départ : Stetten, Todtnauberg, Bauhmolder... pas sûr de l'écriture germanique.

But it seems that there is an added complication now with the female guards: the last rank of the second French unit is made of two women and one man in between; seems the man is slightly taller but it has been judged expeditious to place him in the middle file.

There was no imperial guard in the 18th century. The empire lasted only from 1804 to 1815, it's a 19th century thing. As for Waterloo, 74 000 soldiers vs 118 000 is usually a sure defeat. The imperial guard near the end of the battle was fighting 1 vs 10... Anyway, those soldier are neither royal nor imperial but republican, and have been so since 1870.

The Gendarmerie are a part of the military and double up as the military police when at war. A sound principle as the Guardia Civil and the Caribinaria are the same. All have extensive military training.

They're no longer the Imperial Guards since France is a republic and the Regiments of the Napoleonic era had long been disbanded, they're the Garde Republicain of France's Gendarmerie Nationale they guard the Elysee Palace in Paris.
