Today is a sad day. As my 99 year old great grandfather who was an american medic on d-day in 1944 has passed away, his favorite thing was the rain, and lately I have had trouble sleeping since his death, thank you for helping me get some rest. 1921-2020.

Imagine it for a moment. This noise is in your ears, all around you. You feel the vibrations from the rain and thunder move through the walls, the windows, the ceiling. You're sitting in a comfy, plush chair, warm blanket on your lap. A pillow holds a bowl of just-right hot potato soup, with nice big slices of toast on a napkin, right in your lap. On the night stand next to you is a glass of your favorite drink, and a small lamp. In your hands is a favorite book, from your childhood, lovingly preserved and read a thousand times. Bliss. Pure, unadulterated, bliss. Just a small while to enjoy living without worrying about the horrors of the world around you, the responsibilities that plague you, the challenges you face. This is what i imagine when i come to videos like this one. Bliss, for just a while, inside my head. Truly perfect.

A few months ago I put this on for some background noise and it had the unexpected effect of calming my very anxious 14 year old dog. It was the only thing that would settle him when he was feeling anxious and restless. I turned it on for him every night and periods of the day too. We unexpectedly lost our sweet boy today and I just wanted to say thank you for providing him with some comfort in what turned out to be the last few months of his life. It even helped him today when he was trying to brave the pain. I just turned this video on for the first time without him and I’m now sobbing for what feels like the hundredth time today but it didn’t feel right not to play it for him on his last day on this earth. I don’t know if I’ll be able to revisit this video for a while but if and when I’m able to, I’ll always think of him how he was when he was listening to it: peaceful and sleeping, beautifully content. Wherever he is, I’m sure Marley is resting with this as his background music. So thank you. 💖

When I was homeless I lived in my car. On cold nights, the rain was comforting. Didn't know how many times I'd hear the comforting sound of the rain on the car. Didn't realize I would miss it. Now I listen in my bed, with my wife. Helps sleep, reminds me of the hard times, makes you value the good times. Much love to anybody who has had to listen to this noise.

Sitting in the warmth, shelter, and security of a house while viewing such weather through the pane of a window is comparable to mockery. We sit there, enjoying the chaos while laughing in the face of the storm saying, “You can’t get me!” It really is amazing, and often I find myself wishing to go back to the time as a child when I could stare out the window for hours because nothing else mattered.

TENA That's because we're safe and warm and Cozy. Wishing all of you the same safe feelings that a storm raging outside with the wind screaming around the house with lightning so close that thunder rocks me, and don't let's us forget that torrential rain with hopefully a tin roof. Wonder why no one ever records storms like that? I live in north Ga. And we get what mother called heat storms with exactly those sounds and I look forward to them every summer. Go in peace and love everyone, and for gods sake wear your masks and stay well.

I think it's because the storm tells our brains we can't be reached right now. Normally we feel powerless in the face of all kind of demands and commands from society, but nature turns them powerless, which makes us feel protected. Just my theory.

You can be crap today and regain your energy, have a bath, drink tea, pamper yourself, have a lie down. Read a book, do NOTHING for a while! It’s ok, you are allowed! K? This takes me back to camping with my dad before he passed and in my sleep i dream of our trips sometimes when i wake up i realize I’m an adult and he is gone but it doesn’t make me sad because it’s like I get to spend a weekend with him again even if in reality it’s only 5 to 7 hours of me sleeping. I swear before I’m fully awake and realize where I am I can smell the camp fire. Crazy how powerful the brain can be. Goodnight my fellow campers good luck on catching a monster bass tomorrow lol.

My childhood bedroom was in the loft. The house was on a hill in the suburbs, and I had a view out over the city without anybody being able to see back in, so I never had curtains. I still occasionally have dreams about rainy nights up there and looking out over rolling hills and distant city lights.

I need one month of break from everything and spend the time in this attic. Reading all these books in this weather , can't imagine how relaxing and comforting that would be.

2020 has been crazy but here’s to a better year and i thank the gods for everything they’ve blessed me with. i plan to do better for not only those around me but for myself as well. i tend to forget to take care of myself. anywho have a wonderful sleep
