This was my thyroid surgery recovery! I have quite a high pain tolerance from living with chronic pain, but I hope it can still give you some reassurance about this surgery if you’re having it soon 😊 Ps, the lighting gets better after the first clip!

I appreciate the video. I am going to have a partial thyroidectomy in two months (it's 27 June 2024 now, and the procedure is scheduled for 22 August .) So, really appreciated it. From Wichita, Kansas, USA, have a Great Day!!

Hey Georgina! I’m so glad to see you’re recovering well. I think it’s great you made these updates too. I know you live with so much chronic pain already, so I’m sure you’re coping with it relatively better than most people would. I hope the itchiness has subsided now and I hope you continue to heal up fast! Thank you for the updates. Xxx 💕

Sounds like you’re having the best recovery anyone could hope for after a big surgery in such a delicate area! Glad to see you’re healing well. Must admit I’m very surprised they took your staples out so soon as I’ve always had mine for a minimum of 10 days, but maybe they did some internal stitching too and that’s why you could. Even when you had the flare up of your other conditions you still looked really well for someone so soon post op so I’m sure this will be a huge reassurance for anyone about to go through a similar surgery. Hope you had a wonderful festive period and a very happy new year to you and your family. Take care! Xxx

Thank you 😊 Reassuring others was my main goal, so I’m happy to hear that it sounds like I’ve achieved that 😊 Although my pain tolerance is really high as I’m so used to being in pain, so I was hoping this would show that looking well, doesn’t always mean the person is well, & that if I can describe a surgery like this as being ‘low level pain,’ I’d hope people would realise what that says about my daily, chronic pain & my other debilitating symptoms 😌 xx

Thank you for this!! I'm getting my left thyroid removed. The results of the ultrasound guided biopsy was inconclusive, but I'm having some dysphagia and having anxiety with sleep (sleep procrastination/sleep refusal) from being neurodivergent, so I'm getting it out on the 21st. Thank you again for this!

Ooh Melissa, we have a lot of similarities! Mine was my left side, US biopsy was inconclusive, it caused mild dysphasia & severe sleep procrastination & also got it removed on the 21st (but of December!), I’ll be thinking of you on the day, and hoping it goes as smoothly as possible!

@@GeorginasJourney it went well. Seeing your after surgery videos have been very helpful! I had my drain removed yesterday and I'm still struggling with sore throat/cough from intubation, but doing what I can by trying to stay hydrated! No pathology results yet on the mass though. Been healing well, however my tongue tip on the right side is numb. I'm leaning towards intubation nerve damage, but seeing if it needs more time to "wake up". I see my ENT on Feb 21st and will mention it if I still don't have feeling. Thank you for your videos again!! So helpful!

@@didntevenchoosethisfont141 hi lovely! So glad to hear you’ve had it done & are on the other side now! I got my pathology results back about 3 weeks post op, so you should have yours back in the next couple of weeks hopefully 😊 & I also had numbness caused by nerve damage for about 4 weeks- it then turned from numbness to soreness as the nerves healed & grew back about a month post op, so hopefully you’ll get sensation back in a few weeks too 🤞🏽 I discussed it with my ENT & nerve damage can take a few weeks or a few months to heal, but definitely ask about it at your follow up (if not before) just to double check that it’s definitely nerve damage that you’re dealing with! (& hopefully it is, as I was told that nerve damage is most often temporary from this sort of surgery) 💗

I'm having my left thyroid lobe removed Feb 10. I've been dealing with a hoarse voice since October 2021! The lump is benign but I'm having it removed because I can see it and I can feel it sometimes when I swallow. It's a little over 2.3 cm.

@@GeorginasJourney Hi friend!! My pathology came back with cancer 🙃 so I'm going to be getting the right side removed towards the end of Feb. It was carcinoma encapsulated angioinvasive type. It was about 2.3 cm of my 4 cm mass. My Endo and ENT both agreed and leaned toward removal of my right side because of my age and it is eaiser to monitor changes when the whole gland is out. Overall I'm okay and just grateful the have it removed before it got to the point where it could be typed or spread to other structures! On a better note, I'm getting feeling back in my tongue tip which is great! Thank you for your kind words and your videos 💕

Not sure if the UK has steri strips in your pharmacy or not but I know in the US we have them! I’ve put extra on my scars when the nurses didn’t listen to my request. Also to cover the site you could wrap the clear plastic cling for food around your neck. Not fool proof but could work!
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 2 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if they have them in pharmacies, but I bought some from Amazon after someone else suggested it to me! Definitely a good idea for people who have issues with healing, or when nurses haven’t followed the doctors guidance 😅 Cling film is usually recommended for showering with wounds, but it’s not always recommended for wounds on the neck as it can be dangerous (in case it accidentally tightens & chokes you or something), so I didn’t want to recommend that as it’s not very safe!

@@GeorginasJourney you’re totally right. No idea why that didn’t come across my brain haha. Maybe cut a square of it and use some waterproof tape so it’s not wrapped around
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 2 жыл бұрын
@@elisewynn2951 it’s what they recommend for most incisions, so it makes sense that you thought to recommend it! And I cut a square out of a plastic bag & used that…but didn’t have any waterproof tape, so the tape I used came right off 😂 I’ve currently got the second set of steri strips on (that I bought) but I’m going to take them off tomorrow & hope for the best, as it’s been almost 2 weeks of steri strips so that should have had enough time to heal now 😊 Definitely keep giving tips if you find anyone else in my situation, as I’m so glad you & that other person recommended me to get more of the steri strips 😊

Hope you’re having a great day today my dad had to go through something very similar because he had open heart surgery and kidney failure so they had to put tubing into his chest in order to take blood out and from what I remember Him saying that it was almost impossible for him to take a shower because of it and I remember from my personal experiences when I got my hamstring surgery done I think what they did with me was to make sure my stitches didn’t get wet they took the nurses like some saran wrap and wrapped around my legs and I took a shower that way or took a bath rather some what but it’s not really the best option but anyway it’s great to see that you’re doing well and hopefully pretty soon things all get healed up Great seeing you

I feel so bad and drugged out. I just had it done yesterday so I may feel a little bit better tomorrow but did they tell you you can go back to normal life or to take it a little lay back?
