I think dragon age lore is much more complex than elder scrolls lore coz the ES lore has been told as facts from the books and scriptures that we can find on ES games but DA lore has only been told according to perspectives and beliefs from different races. so the true facts of DA lore still remain to be seen and that is the most interesting part of it...
@cyfertea8707
@cyfertea8707 2 жыл бұрын
@@irsyadasyrafmohamad9784 I agree. That's because Elder scrolls revolves around being a myth being told by countless people, while Dragon age despite having the same style is being more of a historical events. What I meant is how the stories are told, Elder scrolls have good lore but some events are vague and is sometimes just a simple events, motives, and even stories which is like myths are told. Dragon age on the other hand tells a complex story, background, complex motives, complex history, never ending politics, and shows that Wars is not always fought in the field (the greatest example is the Orlesian Games). Basically imagine a story teller telling us myths of the greek mythology, that's similar to Elder scrolls's story telling. While Dragon age is more of a historical texts that explains deep politics, betrayals. What I liked about dragon age is the lack of magic that can turn the tides of war, which Elder scrolls have a lot of. Even the inquisitor's mark, even tho it's something special it wasn't a war turning weapon and was even pretty useless in most of the war.

Why the history and lore of the Elder Scrolls hasn’t been made into a movie and/or tv adaptation yet is beyond me. The depth and detail of the storytelling are absolutely phenomenal.
@jimr9499
@jimr9499 2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. But at the same time, I am also hesitant. They would just have to really do it right (and don't ask me to define what "right" means...lol). It seems to me it's hit or miss when adaptations from games/books are made. Game of Thrones, excellent. The Witcher, very good. But the new(ish) series adapting The Wheel of Time (my favorite fantasy books of all time) was very "meh". But The Elder Scrolls is my favorite fantasy series (books, games, shows, or movies) period. Full stop. So, I would be overjoyed if they did make a movie or series from it; I would just have very very high expectations.
@eddardstark6554
@eddardstark6554 2 жыл бұрын
@@jimr9499 I would have the same expectations also. It’s just a shame that we, as fans, are so “hesitant” nowadays with wanting a live-action adaptation of things. It seems like Hollywood strikes out more than they get on base, let alone the rare time they actually hit a home run (I’m looking at the Lord of the Rings trilogy). I was (and am) happy to see how they treated Marvel. But man, the Star Wars sequels blew and while I loved the first few seasons of GOT, seasons 7 and 8 were rushed and just downright stupid. The Witcher is really good in my opinion. I’m excited to see where that goes. But I have been thinking over and over again about how a mini-series for Elder Scrolls would be amazing. I haven’t heard much of the Wheel of Time other than it’s good, so I’ll have to read it. If Hollywood can just pull their heads out of their own asses and hire a competent FAN of the series they are directing with competent writers (that stay far, far away from wokeness and identity politics), then the Elder Scrolls could be revolutionary in storytelling (and even film making) because frankly, there’s just nothing quite like it. People compare it all the time to LotR, but GOT is more similar. The Elder Scrolls has a certain “metaphysics” that really sets it apart from other fantasy genres. Plus, the heavy I involvement of the Gods and Lords of Oblivion (Aedra and Daedra) in Tamriel is unique compared to other fantasy genres, as fantasy usually steers clear of those tropes and leaves it up to mystery and imagination, which is fine, but seeing and interacting with the Gods in ES is so fascinating. Seeing adaptations of them would be cool. But I guess that’s what we have the games for.

@eddardstark6554
@eddardstark6554 2 жыл бұрын
@@budakbaongsiah well that’s on them. I understand that Skyrim is much more of a vanilla fantasy trope than their previous installments (Daggerfall and Morrowind in particular), but I just hope with the popularity of Skyrim they can realize that the true fans want the deep and profound lore. Like Peterson himself said (I’m paraphrasing and it’s not exact) “if a player wants to play the game and not dive into the lore - aka talking to everyone, exploring everything, and investigating all options, then that’s fine, but those who do those things and read the in-game books will have a whole other world to discover.” I hope Bethesda honors fans who follow people like Fudgemuppet and others who love the lore. I hope they add to and explain a bit more of the metaphysics of this universe. My only concern is how ESO is so bland and generic that I hope TES6 strays far away from ESO.

I like the lore writing here. A few atrocities, mis-tellings of history, etc. being described as glorious conquest in the annals, yet so many instances of inglorious acts left out or re-written. Comparable with IRL history.

Man, I can't help but want to point out Shezarrines and how it was actually the union of Tiber, Zurin and Wulfheart souls that became Talos. But damn, what a great video. It's good to finally visualise these events.

Nice summary all around! I realy enjoy the artworks you guys use for this. Big kudos to your artists! But still you realy should change the placement of High Rothgar! It still is located north-east of Whiterun on your map, while it is actually located south-east, atop of Tamriels highest mountain, the Throat Of The World! 😅Sry for being such a hyper nerd...

Thanks for the nice words which I am responsible for and also for the misplaced landmark which will unfortunately stay for the series, which is after all man made lore for a game series and man is not perfect as we all know and accept with his own little mistakes and flaws which in return makes his story more unique and valuable maybe. :) Alas, maybe I am a gnome crafting deliberately imperfect goods or my sources were flawed or I liked the position more fitting aesteticaly but it is what it is. No hurt feelings, we are all sympatic nerds here. :D

@@otgunz Ah I see. Well let's just put it off to historical inaccuracy then. After all if one takes a look at the type of maps people crafted in our real world history, it's astounding people managed to not get completely lost within their own villages. 😂
