Hi sir. i have titanium nail in my right tibia. last month i went the same doctor to remove nail. but, my doctor failed to remove the nail, he said the nail unable to lock with the removal equipment. he removed all screws. is there any possibility to remove the nail? my nail inside bone. without break bone is it possible to remove? it's only 2.5 years please reply sir🙏

I have recently gone for removal of my tibia and femur nail but doctors have to abandoned the surgery because of stripped screws 😢 can you please tell me any possibility for removing this nails from my leg there is any solution to remove stripped screws removel ?

After the nail is removed, how long does it take for one to walk normally. Is the knee as painful as the case of nailing itself? Kindly shade some light. Am even scared of having mine removed

Generally we make patient walk with Walker support next day itself, better to start walking without support after two weeks. Generally pain will be mild.

Sir, my brother have 2 rod in left leg tibia & femur how many months rod will be removed better. My brother age is 13 years . Since 9 months has completed after surgery. Doctor's say that tibia wires will be removed after surgery 6 months. what u say is it better to removed it .

Hello, this so u r mentioning about TENS nail in tibia, ideally we remove by 6 months after ensuring union at fracture site , better to be removed now as its already late.

No need to remove Titanium plates, they are MRI inert , only if there is infection or screw backout or other problems then plan for removal

Hello, generally our long bones are Hollow structures ,once after removal they are filled with blood and clotting happens.Screw holes also will be filled with blood and that get transformed into bone with the help of stem cells from outer layer of bone (periosteum) , generally we advice the patient to do weight only after 2-3 weeks ,since it takes time for bone to regain strength.

Seems scary...I am 14 years old dude met with an Accident...on the same day a surgery has been scheduled...they implanted 2 rods into my left leg as my ankle had a severe fracture and tibia bone crushed...so they implanted on dec 18 2022...now putting 50% pressure on my foot... within march I'll able to walk normally...will be removed within 1 year ig??tell me

Hi , it can be removed but since it's been 10 years , there is a possibility of difficulty while removing. But definitely can be given a try if u wish to get it removed.

After one month of operation doctor removed my proximal screw bcz in X ray there is gap at fracture side. Why space has developed at fracture side

If the reduction is not approximated ,then it happens. Ur surgeon has now done a Dynamisation of the nail. Now it will glide within the bone and reduce that space. More chance of union.

I have titanium rod in my leg from past 5 years, I feel no pain and I can walk/run/cycling can do anything I feel comfortable, just lil pain in winters which is bearable, should I get the rod removed? I am feeling very much confident to get it removed after watching this simple procedure done by you, only part I am scared about is if my bone can break while getting the procedure done. My age is 24, nail is in Tibia bone right leg, I am very skinny but my height is 6ft and I weigh 65kgs in case these details matter, I will really appreciate your guidance on this. Thanks in advance.

Hello, titanium nails are more inert and resistant to biological corrosion than stainless steel nails , so need not remove it until it causes any problem like screw back out or infection or refracture or non union. Definitely your bone won't break while Removing. Bone shattering can occur only if we forcefully back hammer it but none does that. 👍

Hello ,other than clinically have to confirm with radiograph whether ther is complete union at fracture site , then u can start doing partial weight bearing with muscle strengthening exercises and after two weeks full weight bearing. Proximal (upper ) screw removal is called dynamisation , which is done to help in promoting union if there is delay in union at fracture site.

Hi , generalised swelling is possible if compression dressing is not done after tourniquet release. But if the dressing is done only at upper and lower part by leaving the middle part ,then there is chance of swelling.

Hello sir , it depends on the type of fracture and fixation. If the bone approximation is good and patient is comfortable without pain , we can start partial weight bearing on first week itself. Followed by full weight bearing on 3 to 4 weeks.

Hello, definitely u can walk like before but for better results don't do full weight bearing on the affected limb for atleast 2 weeks after removal.

Hi , it depends on the area of pain , Maximum cause of pain in anteriorly inserted nail which causes pain in front of knee joint . If there is complete union of fracture (if around 1 year after operation ) , nail and screws can be planned for removal.

Good evening , am from India , Please do an Xray of the limb to confirm the union at fracture site and atleast 12 months should be over post surgery. Then u can go ahead with removal.

sir i had a bike accident recently which cause fracture in both tibia and fibula after that i had operation and a titanium nail was inserted in tibia but they left fibula saying it will adjust automatically now it has been 10 days from operation sometimes i still feel the fracture in fibula will it be heal again or it will be remain like this.....also i am very stressed about that will i able to do all things like before or i have to face some restrictions in future because of the fracture i mean will i recover completely or their will be some consequences??

Hi , only lower most 8cm fractures in fibula requires fixation, if it's in middle or upper area ,no need to operate. Fibula has negligible role in weight bearing, fracture pain will subside withing 2 to 4 weeks , u will recover well ,don't worry if there is proper tibia fixation is done.

Have a consultation with your operated Surgeon , do a recent xray , if there is complete union at fracture site , u can start on muscle strengthening exercises and weight bearing 👍. If there is no union then he will advise dynamisation.

It depends on the type of Nail ( rod) , bone quality and the screws should be intact. If the implant is broken ,then chance of implant extraction failure can happen .

In lower limb ,after nail removal better to avoid full weight bearing for two weeks. Since bone will be hollow after nail removal.. immediate weight bearing can cause stress to bone.
