Tidy Finishing on a Circular Bind-Off

The bind-off row in circular knitting can leave your with an enormous "jog" between the first and last BO stitch, especially in larger gauge knitting. Here is how to smooth that out.

Hi Staci, this is actually a comment about almost all your videos but I happened to be watching this one, so here goes! I soooo appreciate that you're always concise. You're one of the few designer/teachers around who possess that skill. My tendency is to watch ramblers at 1.5x speed just to be able to get through the darn video :-)

I love to knit in the round but thus has always been an issue for me. I just did a quick cup holder/cozy to practice this technique & it's perfect! Thanks so much for all of your video tutorials!

You read my mind with this tutorial. I've been knitting your top down child's jumper and wondered about the jog in the bind off row. This has answered that question. I usually knit socks in the round and don't need to worry about binding off cos you Kitchener stitch the toe. Thanks for all your great videos and fantastic patterns. Keep up the good work.

Hi, Staci! Thanks for sharing all the great tutorials, I'm a huge fan of your work! I've notice that your videos, since this one of 05/07/2014, don't have the option of english subtitles, just english automatic subtitles. This one doesn't work well... I'm a portuguese native speaker, living in São Paulo/Brazil, so the subtitles in your videos are such a good help, I still need it and I believe that many others non native english speakers need it too. I will be very glad and grateful if the subtitles return! Thank you! Rossana

rdromualdo - thank you for the feedback! Yes, I normally transcribe and type out the closed captions for each of the videos by hand, but it is very time consuming. For the last few weeks, I have tried relying on the machine transcriptions only, to see if anyone noticed (or offered feedback like yours). Again - thank you!

VeryPink Knits Oh yeah, it is a very time consuming task, I know it well cause used to be my job, years ago... lol... I just didn't imagine that you do it all by yourself! I actually think that you must spend your time and talent on knitting instead of transcribing the videos! ; ) It is a pity that the machine transcriptions are not good enough, sometimes they get very confused. The knitting videos have really contributed a lot for me to learn English too. You know, for those who are still learning, sometimes a word missing mess up everything. Anyway, I hope you can find a good solution for you and for us, your students from other lands! Thank you! Rossana

I always pick up 3 or 4 first bind off stitches and knit past the end of the bind off and it evens things up.

Weave it in. I have lots of videos on weaving in ends, based on the fabric you're knitting and/or fiber content.
