@@christrickett3291 because the foreigners are being taught by Thai coaches. As well as alot of them add a higher level of boxing that most Thai fighters are use too considering punches don't score that high in Muay Thai.

Except that these are not beginners, they are all potential future pro fighters and if the trainers does not show them their weaknesses in training, they will surface during a real fight. I think the trainers are right.

Nope they'r not cose in normal fight you can hit back your opponent , you aren't just collecting shots on your guard. Its ok if trainer checks the reflex and attention with a hit but kicking on the ground is just dumb.

Yeah I agree, kicking on the ground does not help anything, I must have missed that part. But my point was exactly what you said: checking the reflexes or exposing the weakness with a hit Okay I see it. He makes the move but he stops his leg short; actually the trainer doesn't touch the guy

I think it's a combination of "let's scare some of the newcomers", "let's ham it up for the cameras" and just old school recklessness that's already been proven to be unhelpful, much like the old ways of caning the fighters that take a backwards step in training

There's a reason westerners started taking wins away from Thai fighters & most of it revolves around improved training methodologies. Not saying Thai coaches are bad, plenty are great but plenty also hang onto tradition for tradition's sake & that's when you start getting surpassed/fighters start leaving. If you enjoy getting unnecessarily hurt & watching your training plateau then knock yourself out lad.

Where you train in bkk ? It makes me angry when i see teachers kicking in the legs of ppl's when they kick, the most pro fighter falls down in this moment, thats not hard, just stupid for me...

Many muay thai fighters try to kick their opponent one last time before they are really "on the ground". They are preparing to become pro fighters so they need to be aware of that last shot! And the shots look painful but i doubt they have bad intentions behind them, at the end of the day they are training them not killing them
