The persona wrestled with the great promotions of NJPW, WWF, NWA and AJPW, This video documents the character brought to life by the great Satoru Sayama and Mitsuharu Misawa in particular.

He is really a legend.It feels bad that people are forgetting wrestlers like him.He is truly my inspiration.I found about him in a video game(Fire Pro Wrestling G),he was the only one who was in the legendary section in the videogame.Thnx man for making this tribute.

The 1960s Tiger Mask anime is also worth a watch. Yes, he was an anime character before an actual wrestler got to wrestle under the gimmick.

Satorua Sayama wrestled in México some years, training & reasearching is character, He faced many Méxican legends & develop his unique style. At the time he return to Japan he build an incredible well tuned arsenal of movements, who made him an instant success. But that was the result of many years of development in both sides of the world. He still is a model for many wrestlers worldwide.

Character came from the Anime series Tiger Mask. His style was developed from Gotch's training and Inoki's pro wrestling mentality. At the core he is a Japanese style shoot wrestler that focused on the martial art aspects of the sport.

On the weekends late at night channel 9 would have WWF and one night this dude Tiger Mask came on I was probably 10 and never seen anything like it. He was flying around the ring. Up until then no one was doing that stuff, it blew me away. I never saw him wrestle again, but I would see him occasionally in those wrestling magazines. What a legend.

@@jeffersonaugusto7280Yup, was Sayamas loooong before IVs. He used quite a few themes in NJPW. 2 versions of the Anime theme, Go Go Tyga, Burning Tiger, and a theme I cant find that sounds like Sayama singing "Woah Oh..gon Tyee gaaah". Plus his UWF Tiger/Super Tiger themes.

I think todays wrestlers lose the plot, all these acrobatic moves tiger mask does is still in the context of a competition. Too often today matches lose the feel of competition and more of a tumbling routine.

Satoru Sayama is the only Tiger Mask. There are many players such as Misawa and Kanemoto who have called themselves Tiger Mask since then, but Sayama is special. He can be said to be a genius in 100 years. If you want to make a tribute, please do not include any images other than Sayama.

Why is Misawa here at all. He was a great normal wrestler but did not have the unique physical abilities of Sayama or the European technical wrestling skills. Not on the same level in terms of what he could do athletically and how precise this dude was
