Just a little information on traction assist system and how it Works with a Tigercat leveling grapple saw machine !

Nice, I ran 870 , cut 55% without tethering, now a days I'm loading with 880👍

Nice ride there Josh! I watched this a while ago but you didn't have your comments turned on. Want d to ask how you like then5195 over the Southstar I think you were running before? Good video, thanks for posting.

Thanks! Yea I’m still figuring out the whole KZfaq thing , so I finally figured out hoW to turn on the comments! I really love the 5195 head! It’s feels smaller then the southstar and I can cut smaller trees without them falling through the grab arms and breaking my chains like the southstar! There is no electrical from the carrier to the head, it’s all pilot oil! So that’s nice not having to deal with electrical issues! One thing I did like on the southstar star was the grab arms had just one cylinder With a link arm to tie them together, which seemed a little stronger when/if needed to dig little stumps out of the ground!

As someone that knows nothing about logging, I have a question. Would burying the bucket to just below the bottom of the sheave give you even more purchase/security for the tail hold. And in return you in the other machine? In stead of dragging tracks and bucket across the road. It would try and pivot the hold machine over the bucket. My only experience is with seeing my grand parents underwater gravel excavation dragline. It had a D6/7 buried into a bank as a tail hold for the old link-belt? I think tail holds the right term, deadman, I’m sure you get the idea.

So there is two different tether base manufacturers that have you dig the bucket in the ground, on my set up you don’t really need too, I don’t know if it’s because my shive is on the bucket and theirs are up higher by the bucket linkage !?! But I think with mine being on the bucket close to ground its forcing all the pressure to the ground! Also my shive only only allows you you to pull so far off the side of the bucket, and my base machine is heavier then my tigercat! I’ve only pulled my base machine a few times and that was due to me not putting it in auto mode lol most issues are from operator error or someone being lazy on prep where you base sits! but we have a safety pin that goes in the ground and is connected to my drum and if my base machine moves to much it will pull that pin and it will stop my drum from pulling me! I hope that helps with your question?!?

Definitely come a long way! Takes a pair to trust that and roll off the side! My grandparents only put one D6/7? deadhead Cable machine into the bay, when the operator got a little froggy with the old link belt. Luckily it was long before the DEP. crazy how far technology has come.

I have tethered with the traction line which uses the bucket reversed, if the bucket is planted good is decent you can side pull nearly 90 degrees to the winches. Which really helps when your on a really narrow trails and the stumps are to small to redirect the line.
