After nearly 4 years, I finally own my grail. One of Ten made, and immensely beautiful in my eyes. BUT... does it live up to the expectations that I have carried with me for so long???

I owned a Tighe Breaker for a while, it is amazing what he does with the sculpting of the blade and titanium. He is a true master of his craft for sure.

Wow, all these exquisite knives and you carry all of them?? Bravo!! You are my kind of collector. I'm not even kidding... something about hearing that makes me very very happy.

Excellent score. I know the feeling. My grail was/is the Sniper Bladeworks DH. It's been my dream knife for almost four years. Either the shop wasn't taking orders, or I didn't have the money, but usually both. When I finally got the money and they were finally taking orders, I finally got my hands on one. When I received her in the mail I almost died. It's still my grail to this day. I love it so much that I'm having a one-off-custom SBW that I designed myself being made for me as we speak.

Jim, one thing I would like to point out in a positive light is the fact that you carry your knives no matter the cost of it and I truly respect you for that. I'm your average knife person and I cringe when I carry my most expensive knife which is $140.

Looks very usable yet very esthetically pleasing at the same time. Thats my favorite kind of knife, best of both worlds.

It's indeed a gorgeous knife and you managed to keep yourself together, good on ya lol. Seriously though Jim, I love hearing people who are at the level of collector you are saying that you carry what you have and that the wear or minor blemish isn't a flaw but adds to the knife. I'm a firm believer in not having safe queens and I'm glad this is going to be with you so often. That beauty deserves to be shared.

All the way to 5:36 I was listening to your commentary and watching the knife sit still in the closed position. My KZfaq froze without me knowing and it was still very entertaining. Congrats on your grail acquisition.

I have been "the watchguy on TV" for 9 years now. Since I left ShopNBC and came back home to south Florida, I have been at World Of Watches TV. I don't do regular home shopping, I am watch-specific. I could never sell old ladies quilts and TVs, not my thing.

Well, you have to understand that this was "the knife" that sparked my interest into stepping up from productions to customs about 4 years ago. And knowing that I would never own one... well, that is a big deal. Then to get it and to feel how buttery smooth everything is, and to see that the fit/finish is on par with, or better than customs worth more than double... yeah, totally grail-worthy. But don't worry, I have more recognizable grails incoming ;-)

Congrats on you finally obtaining that amazing grail! While I do consider several knives to be grails (some of which are being made for me in the next few months) I hope to one day find my ultimate grail, a lefty Anso. He no longer makes lefties so finding one is pretty difficult. Almost nabbed one back in March but missed it by a few minutes.

One thing we all know, from/after watching Jim's vids, is that there will always be another "grail". It's like the marathon that just doesn't end LOL. Just as his collection increases, my own decreases. I've gone from a hundred or so to less than 10. Life is interesting and unpredictable...

Precisely. Grail should be something almost impossible to obtain, whether it be because of a lofty price, or simply due to limited availability. And something that fits all of your needs, wants and desires. Glad to hear you've grabbed yours!!

Beautiful scroll work, is that a usable knife and the scroll work done by hand.? It seems like an under glass knife but using it that’s top shelf and using it for what a knife is intended to be used for. Semper Fi.
@mactheknife80111 жыл бұрын
Skelton you knife buyin sob! Well done.
@MisterLaForce11 жыл бұрын
You got a point there, but in my perspective a grail knife can often be connected with a higher price. You really want this expensive knife and you dream about it but because of the price it is so far away that you can't have it (yet). This and also the fact that customs are more rare make this "grailness" effect stronger. I only have one custom and my grail knife is the other custom I'm on the list for (it is under 600 bucks) but for the rest I'm perfectly fine with my production knives.

It's reallllllllllly hard to get a button lock to fail. If he sent it in to Brian, Brian would fix it (probably at no charge) and turn it around quickly. I know he would not want an unsafe knife out there with his name on it.
