The Yamaha sounds like a toy compared to the event, I bought myself a genos 2 and sold it a month later. Now I have an event and a korg. And i love it!

There's my point. If you don't go with the 'Genos mix,' you have to get two synths to separate the Event guitars from the Korg synth sounds. Every keyboard has its own rich individual sound, apart from the transparent Genos. It is always better to get the actual separate keyboards. Such as a Hammond organ and a Mini Moog, rather than a Genos or Event trying to do both at the same time. The thing I don't like about the Genos is that the synthesiser is not programmable, but the sounds are top notch when used in a record mix. The Genos styles sound like a record with the guitars right where they need to be in the mix. The Genos guitars are designed to play with other instruments as a band. The Event sounds like a realistic guitar when practicing alone. That's just me as a guitarist who had a home recording studio with synths and drum machines. A do agree the Genos guitars sound a bit like a tranny amp trying to simulate a valve amp.

Across the range, the Ketron guitars sound much more "authentic" - I can differentiate between the Strat, the Tele and the Les Paul BEFORE effects are added. To my ear, the Genos2 guitars sound like they are all taken from a single guitar sample and their "characters" then only change due to the effects added. Having said that, being a guitarist as well as a keyboard player, I totally prefer using a joystick over a wheel for pitch bend and vibrato. I therefore have no alternative but to combine a Yamaha Genos2 with a Ketron Event X... oh and win the lottery to pay for them both of course!! Thank you Tiho - a fascinating exercise which I'd be interested to see replicated for other instrument voices; Genos2 Vs Ketron Event X.

ketron is a mess the interface sucks badly, but in instruments and price is superior I give you that

As a lead guitarist who also used keyboards, this is a very interesting video. On first hearing I preferred the Event due to the crisp tinny twang vs the more resonant sound of the Genos. But after a while the Event started to sound too thin and twangy. Now I'm hearing a more robust tone in the Genos. I was using humbuckers on a Telecaster through a Mesa Boogie and the clean sound was more like the Genos to be honest. One thing I am appreciating with the Genos is that all the voices are tuned to sit well in a balanced record mix, so everything sounds great when played together. That is very rare in a keyboard. Normally a keyboard has a distinct sound and when you play multiple sounds together, they get mushy and very samey. Musicians get around this by using different brands of instrument for each part so you get variety in tone and mix clarity. When assessing the guitar tone, you have to bare this in mind. For example, when recording guitar, I would tune the guitar sound similar to the Genos, not the Event. In comparison, the Event bass guitar is way too muddy and boomy. The thin tinny guitars get lost in the mix.

A very interesting and well presented comment. There is also the taste factor which is very important. In some cases, it doesn't even matter which instrument sounds closer to the guitar, but which one the player likes more and gives him more motivation to play so that better results are obtained. Both instruments are good but different. I like Genos, but I prefer EventX when it comes to El Guitars. If we talk about Acoustic Guitars, Genos is the best of all arrangers. Thanks for the comment.

@@Tiho2012 I totally agree. In fact I have just watched some more videos of the Event and they seem to have cured the mushy mix and dull drums via an update so the guitar sounds sit really well in the mix now. I'm now leaning towards the Event like you. I can hear the quality now, especially the real bass stuff. Realistic sounding guitars that sit really nice in a high quality mix.

Tihomir, jako dobro poređenje. Sve najbolje :) Molim i poređenje za ostale zvukove npm acou. klavira, elektricnih. klavira, akustične gitare. Zainteresovan sam za kupovinu Eventa kojeg bi imao pored Genos1. Kako ima na eventu editiranje midi failova ? Puno hvala

Na eventu nema dobre opcije za Editiranje MIDI fajlova. U tome podruciju Korg i Jamaha su bolji.

The guitars on Genos have nice layers but sounds thin because the soundboard on Genos eat the mid high frequencies in all sound.. Event sounds more fat and natural brilliance ..😊

I’ll go for the Event. Its good to have both. But im satisfied with DGX 670. Much cheaper and more EDM sounds.ha ha ha! Leave the guitars to real experts. Give them a job. Dont be selfish.

But I like playing guitar sounds. Please can I play the guitar sounds as I am a "One Man Band" and I don't have a guitarist. I'm an Arranger Player. I allow you to buy yourself a guitar synth and you can play saxophone or piano on the guitar if you need it. Relax and enjoy what you do and what makes you happy.
