There’s a sizeable number of Flames fans who were absolutely convinced that picking him at 9 would be a dumb move and that he’s only getting the hype because of his name. They sure have been quiet recently.
@Robbhope99
@Robbhope99 16 күн бұрын
Very few of us felt that way. We're all pretty stoked for him. Not sure he's the best player at 5 but I don't think he'll be drafted by us at 9. Never know though. Always surprises in the draft. Montreal especially seems to go off the board sometimes.
@anonykip
@anonykip 16 күн бұрын
@@Robbhope99 for what it’s worth, I never had any strong opinions for or against Tij. Even now, it’s very much hard to predict how a prospect would turn out so I just find it funny how all these armchair GMs who probably never even saw him play live talk with absolute certainty about how he doesn’t deserve to go in the top 10. With all that said, I’m also stoked that another Iginla will soon be playing in the NHL.

@@HabsTypeBeat It's a no brainer imho, like Tkachuk should have been for the Habs. This guy will be a 10 year top6 forward at worst with his lineage and hockey sense. At best, he's a superstar player. Would be great value at 5. I'd even take him over Demidov.

@HabsFan1978
@HabsFan1978 16 күн бұрын
@EQOEQO you and I speak for all Hab fans in general really hope so... it better be a forward drafted with that top 5 pick. The Habs have more than enough defenseman, they could even draft 1 with there second 1st round pick if they wanted too since this years draft class is dman heavy, but the priority should be drafting prospects on offense going forward with this rebuild for Les Canadiens.

@@HabsFan1978 Speak for yourself. If one of the 2 tops Ds of this draft are still available I want management to pick them. Especially that 6'8 guy who might be the next Chara.
@HabsFan1978
@HabsFan1978 16 күн бұрын
@marc-olivierrenaud7495 That's your opinion... but bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, and majority of the fans want management to select a forward with that top 5 pick. I'll say it again, the Habs have way too many defenseman in the system and not enough good prospects on offense. The only players they have right now that can crack the top 6 is probably Joshua Roy, the rest like Owen Beck and company are very good complementary players you can fit into the lineup to play different roles but are not top 6 impactful players. You can only dress 6 dman on a starting roster and realistically not all of the Habs defenseman prospects are gonna end up playing for the Habs, especially now with all the trade rumors. So you mean to tell me that you'll be content if the Habs management select another dman with a top 5 pick, after being one of the worse teams in the league for the past 2 years, and leave the offensive lines status quo giving no help to Suzuki and Caufield??? Bottom line is... the Habs desperately need more scoring and size on the team, which this past season showed after losing plenty of games by a goal and not have Kirby Dach in the lineup for the whole year.

@@HabsFan1978did something happen to Slavkovsky?
@HabsFan1978
@HabsFan1978 Күн бұрын
@coreygavin9134 nothing happened to Slaf except for continuing at getting better with his development. He improved big time this past season, solidifying his spot on the Habs top 6 and has been a beast in the Worlds tournament. All I'm trying to say is the Habs could use more help on offense, especially with the veteran guys getting older and players with big contracts that have underperformed, whom I'm hoping they turn their game around. The Habs rebuild is about getting younger, bigger, and faster. They've done that with the blueline and in nets, but not with the 2nd line and bottom 6. With the draft coming up and possible trades they can make during the off season without sacrificing key players, they could do that and maybe push the rebuild ahead of schedule. The team realistically could be competing in the playoffs 2-3yrs from now, or just wishful thinking as a diehard fan, maybe even a wild card spot as early as next year depending how things go and if certain guys can stay healthy. Who knows what the future holds, but I can tell you at the moment it's looking bright, especially now with this new management group going forward.
