Simple and yet a great addition to the rifle railing system.

Blue Locktite is removable. I agree it's probably not needed in most cases but it provides added insurance especially with high caliber rifles like 300 Win. Mag, etc. If you're out in the middle of nowhere you certainly don't want your scope mounts to come loose.

So a lot of people commented on my use of Screwdriver, this was 5 years ago and two things that I have to mention about this video. 1. I had a severely sore shoulder to the point that my motor skills was hampered badly . I could barely write with my right hand let alone use a screwdriver . But yes I am not the best with screwdrivers even though I did build hundreds of computers for people . 2. Secondly my camera set up wasnt great I wasnt using mounts etc. This was a very early set up the only way I could get a close up to what I was doing was to actually work over the camera which also meant looking at the camera to do , try it its not easy hahaha. I hope you got something from it either way. Regards David

Where did you get the dovetail mounts?
@FieldsportsScotland5 жыл бұрын
The origibal dovetail mounts are optilocks for the Tikka . The rail system can be picked up in loads of places

Why would you change to a rail when you have dovetails? Can you tell me the added value off a rail compared to dovetails? Did you have you ever had a problem that the screws came lose without using loctite blue?

The rail is more versatile , I test and swap scopes all the time so I can use a varied amount of mounts to suit different scope sizes also I test and own Nightvision scopes many of those require you to have a rail fitted. A rail gives me the flexibility to choose what scopes and what rings I need for each scope. For instance I the Zeiss V8 I reviewed had 38" rings which you will be hard pushed to get in optilocks.

Get a magnet to stick all your screws to too.

The screws are plastic

didn't mean s/m/l meant low medium high and what's the Moa mean. sorry for being a pain mate
@FieldsportsScotland5 жыл бұрын
Moa is minutes of angle , it determines how the scope sits on your rifle in regards to zero. For instance if you have a 0 moa there is no slope in the rail but if you have a 20 moa there is a slope on the rail . If mounting a photon I would put a standard zero moa rail with medium rings.
