The #Tikka #t3x TAC A1 is a #boltaction #prs #rifle chambered in #308 #winchester among others (including #223 #Remington and #65creedmoor .
It is an exceptionally well made rifle - produced in the same factory as where #Sako rifles are made.
These are great tools for long distance #targetshooting , competitions, and somewhat potentially (but never practically) hunting.
Grab a drink and some popcorn and get comfy. This is gonna be a long one.

Love the Vid! Again! I have the T3X CTR, that screw up front is for a mirage shield, you might have another a little back below the scope? that's where mine sits in the CTR. if you own these, DO NOT TIGHTEN THAT SCREW! you will destroy the rail on the back end. The shield helps with your scope image when there's high temps coming off the barrel. Great rifles for sure, I put holes in holes every time with this beauty. Side note, I also love my x95, and just put a green laser/light on it, highly recommend, makes her look pretty badass in a dark room, throw a little vape exhale in there and man what a sight! Thanks again for all you do for us Canadian gun guys.

Beautifully written. And thanks so much! This jogs my memory! That is absolutely right! That is so cool that they thought of that :) I did snug up the front screw, on the brake. I hope that's fine :) Never in a million years even would have thought of that, that's awesome. By the way, thanks so much for being a subscriber. To most people this might not be a big deal. But I am grateful that I provide enough value for you to want to subscribe, and come back to watch more videos. It's this that really keeps me going, and I just wanted you to know I really appreciate it :)

I love the gun. Such an awesome piece of kit and I agree with you on the colour. I have a Tikka 3x CTR mounted on an XRS chassis so I can appreciate how good these guns are in terms of accuracy and smoothness. Thank you for the review. As for the 6.5 Creedmoor muzzle velocity, it depends on a number of factors, such as barrel length and bullet weight. However, you are looking at speeds of of around 2700 to 2800 FPS with match ammunition.

Couldn’t agree more 💯 CTR is amazing and definitely one I was considering. But ultimately decided to go for the TAC. My pleasure brother! It’s nice to see you again. Hope you had a very merry Christmas and wish you and your family all the best in 2024. ;) About the 6.5, I thought it was a bit faster than the 308 when comparing similar weights and barrel lengths but this does make sense. Thank you for this! I appreciate you taking the time and sharing your thoughts as always brother. Thank you! 🙏

I got mine almost a year ago now. Only 3 changes to the rifle and it was perfect. First, absolutely get a new muzzle brake. The stock Brake is actually for a .338 Lapua. There was a noticeable difference after buying a 6.5cm brake. I extended the bolt handle to Pineapple handle, and it is one of the smoothest bolt actions I've ever handled. Finally, and this is actually a nuisance, on mine the forend will get loose somehow and there will be some give when handling the rifle. I checked torques and they are all to spec. Taking it off and re tightening fixes it. I'm assuming I need to add Lock tight. Still, it's the only rifle I've ever had an issue like that with. Amazing gun, and catches alot of attention at the range. Final note! The folding stock will touch the chasis and cause a wear mark. Putting some simple padding, or tape fixes the issue.

That’s great, I was thinking of changing out the muzzle brake on mine. When you say it’s better I’m guessing you’re saying it’s lower recoil because the gases are better routed outside? To be honest I actually don’t mind how it feels right now. It’s very comfortable to shoot even with a 338muzzle brake. As for the stock causing marks on the body, I haven’t seen that, nor have I seen any issues with my fore-end. That being said though Loctite is not a bad idea. I definitely get a lot of attention at the range as well when I bring mine, especially when I go prone lol I want to try to get this out to the 150 m range and start driving some tacks out there. Thanks for the comment, brother, stay safe and enjoy your Tikka :-)

@canadianoperator and thanks for the reply! Take a look at the Ultradyne Pegasus Tanker Brake. It was noticeably different. Ironically it was my wife who noticed the most recoil difference. She rarely shoots so I think it stood out more to her.

Have several thousand rounds through my .308, still works great. The cheek riser is very slippery when sweating or in rain. I put a thin layer of adhesive foam rubber on there, game changer. Did not know, that the bolt has Teflon, it does wear of though at places over time. Butt pad adjustment indeed is not great, but I am working on steel plates that I’ll put there as spacers. For my competitions 10kg is allowed, I’ll have 9,4kg and the rifle balanced then. Extra screw on muzzle break is for mirage shield, that is a must have, unless you always shoot with enough wind around. On the rear picatinny I have a bag rider. Mono pods are not that poular anymore, as it seems. Of course depends on the competition, might not even be allowed to use a mono pod.

Thinking of getting a .223 version of this but in black. Thought about building my own with a Tikka T3x and an MDT chassis however this rifle gets great reviews and I’m thinking this is the better option. Great video by the way.
@canadianoperator
@canadianoperator 4 ай бұрын
It’s funny you should say that because I got a lot of people in comments and on discord telling me that I should build my own from the ground up. While that argument absolutely holds water and is very valid, and would probably end up in a slightly more satisfying result… I just can’t ignore how meticulous Tikka is when making their rifles. I’ve seen a tour of their factory and it’s absolutely insane the lengths they go to in order to achieve perfection. For that reason, and because I’m lazy 😂 I went with the TAC and never looked back. There are days I just hold it in my living room and wonder how I could ever build something so perfect. So if you have the experience like, if you’re a gunsmith, for example, you can probably make some thing of equal or similar quality and you would definitely have a higher sense of accomplishment by doing that as opposed to just going to the store and purchasing something from the factory. However, Tikka really makes it easy and the results speak for themselves.

I picked up the TAC A1 in .223 in black because I have so many components for .223 given the AR15 ban. The gun is a really fine piece. Bore sighted, zeroed at 100 yds and hitting 3/4” dots at 200 yds inside 20 rounds. No fatigue shooting this gun as there is almost zero recoil.

@canadianoperator
@canadianoperator 6 ай бұрын
Obviously this thing is made to be shot outside, but if you are completely strapped for places and can't find anywhere good on crown land, there's always Urban Tactical in Brantford. It's a very small indoor range of only 15m. But the staff are always nice and it's better than not being able to shoot at all. In fact I took my T3X lite there before I had my membership to the outdoor club I'm currently at.

@@Thevapehouseunboxed No worries! Honestly I’d definitely shop around. I don’t necessarily want to advertise particular stores :P But as far as firearms go the profit margins are usually a lot thinner than ammo, which means the variation on price is generally quite small. The old ammo bin website was recently replaced with a different one that apparently lets you compare prices, and this time it includes guns, so that might be worth checking out (forgot what it’s called). Remember that although you may not want to wait, sometimes you can get a better deal from a more rural or out of the way store if you buy online. Which within Canada, you absolutely can! Good luck and have fun with your new Tikka :)

Thanks! And nah, gonna keep crying lol because at this price point Tikka really shit the bed with that system. Nothing is perfect and this is the only thing that makes this gun not perfect. People need to know that if they’re about to drop 3G on a new gun.

Any reason you chose the 308 over the 6.5?
@canadianoperator
@canadianoperator 3 ай бұрын
Yep. Availability of ammo. 6.5 is harder for me to find here and it’s often more expensive than 308, so I went for the oldie but goodie. :)

barrel live is sigificantly better with .308. Shooting is better with 6.5CM. Less recoil, shoots further. I am shooting competition only up to 800m and 6,5CM is always a different group, so I don't compeat against 6.5CM with my .308.
