However their is a qualitative difference between Chinese law and American law. This is not the place for a lecture on all shortcomings of Chinese law but 3 examples should suffice 1. An American company cannot just hand over private information about it's customers at the request of the government. 2. To get the information they need a search warrant that must be granted by a judge. The application for the search warrant must have sworn evidence that a specific crime has been committed and that the search if approved will probably uncover evidence relating to the specific crime. 3 . The Chinese government can ask for and get for example details of all American accounts. In America even if you could satisfy the first two requirements would be refused as too broad..
