To sharpen scissors do the same thing but use fine sandpaper. Makes several cuts and it will sharpen them great.

Okay some good dishwasher info here. The reason those two little holes are there, is actually intended for when you use powder because there’s 2 compartments. Both meant for the same powder, but it comes out as prewash. That little door will pop open during the wash cycle and release the powder, or in your case the pod. But yes technically you should put pods or tablets in the bottom of the dishwasher. If you put it in the basket it might end up getting stuck to your cutlery.

My pre-wash cycle drains before the wash cycle. Wouldn't that make the pod dissolve in the pre-wash and drain before the actual wash?
@RachPlusFive

Yeah. It all depends on your specific dishwasher 😊

@@melissaf8332 the pods are usually designed to dissolve slowly so they don’t all get used up in the pre wash cycle

You should put the tab in the compartment and then put liquid on the door (if your dish washer does not have a prewash cup). The extra liquid enables the 'first rinse' to help degrease and loosen food

Thanks for the tip. I, too, do not go on TikTok so I like these compilations. I have a tip to share: if you keep your knives in a block, put them in with the back of the blade down. This way the blades do not rest on the wood and when you take them out, you are not dulling them by cutting into the wood. This worked on at least 2 of my wood blocks. I saw you had a block so thought you might want to share.
@RachPlusFive

Thank you so much for that! I can do that with my steak knives but my major knives all have rest in a sharpener so they need to go in sharp side down.

I actually used to throw my dishwasher pod in with the load too but I saw a different TikTok that showed how it just wastes your detergent bc it uses it during the pre-wash/rinse phase of the cycle instead of during the longer wash phase-when you WANT your detergent to be working. I did notice when I switched that my dishes are getting cleaner. So just for what it’s worth.

Rach, you have some great vidoes I enjoy. I have a couple of hints for you too. Re rust on your cutlery. I learned the hard way, by washing all my knives in the wishwasher. They are not meant in dishwashers, but by hand with warm sudsy water, rinsed, dried and returned to the drawer. The serrated knives should not be sharpened, they remain sharp. I had a really great set and didn't think twice about putting them in with the dishes.I was complaining to my son how my knives were needing to be sharpened alot. He told me that the dishwasher detergent is designed to cut through all the stuck-on food etc. And has a corrosive affect on the steel.

Also when you put your knives in your knife block put them blades up. That will stop them from becoming dull
@RachPlusFive

I can’t do that only because my block has built in sharpeners for each knife (except the steak knives) so they have to go in blade down.

I have one and it's a doozy. I am a cat lady and take in sick, starving, and feral cats. This formula gets out cat urine AND even heavily stained clothes. Peroxide whitens clothes, teeth, and is like bleach but not poisonous. It's 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 Cup baking soda, and 1 tsp of Dawn dishwashing detergent. (Knockoffs work too). Just soak in this, wring out, and rinse. Then wash as usual. This works great on furniture too but you just spray it on. Scrub a bit and let air dry. Only mix as much as you will use right then though.

Great video! Speaking of "Stainless steel" if you don't already know after cutting an onion rub some stainless steel & it gets the onion smell off your hands. They actually sell Stainless steel bars that look like a bar of soap, but it's not necessary to buy. As far as lightening 3 wick candles: In order to keep smoking down, wicks are supposed to be kept trimmed to about 1/4”. If this is done, I don’t think that the hack would work. It really doesn’t take that long to light all 3. I am eager to try the window cleaner cushion hack. Thanks for testing these out for us!

That door on the dishwasher opened at the appropriate time: some dishwashers rinse first, this will waste all the cleaning product as it will be rinsed away. That’s why some dishwasher open the little dispenser door after a few minutes not immediately. Mine has no orerinse so the door can be heard popping open as soon as the water is in the machine.

Focus on one task at a time… Remove dirty clothes. Then remove any trash, plates, cups, etc. (or switch the order of those) Then make your bed. Put out of place items away. Dust furniture. Always end with vacuuming. 😊

Hi. K. I luv to organize and when I saw your parchment paper hack. O.M.G. Game changer. The times I have gone into a store, come home only to find that the said item isn't fitting. Ugh. Ty.

Pour one cup straight ammonia in black garbage bag and put in ONLY Stainless Steel pots and pans like farberware. Then tie tightly put aside a few days. Untie, phew strong smell and remove pots. Looks like nothing happened? SOS or Brillo Pad and GREASE MELTS OFF like Magic😮😮😮

Thank you. We don’t know exactly what he is. We adopted him and they found him on the side of the road. Their best guess is beagle (nope 😂) mixed with who knows what.

I was rewatching your video and had a chuckle with the srirachca. I think how it's known as depends where you're at. I'm in Canada and most people I know refer to it as Rooster sauce. I had to laugh harder because a coworker unfamiliar with this thai hot sauce thought it was made of roosters!

@@RachPlusFive I hear ya. I was mortified when someone I had been calling the wrong name only corrected me 4 weeks later. It'd already been entrenched by that time and took me almost a year to get his name right, on the first try :P

@@RachPlusFive I've got an update with the sriracha. It's pronounced see-racha. Like, the first "r" is silent!!!
