@chuckytherapper

@TheRealOfficialDJDemmerneck Honestly bro the proofs in our conversation bro. Those call to actions mean alot. We should be doing that on all social media. Obviously the best way to get people to go to your spoitfy is to put a link to it in their face for them to click it. Which is more succesful with paid advertisement. Because its set up professionally and pushed to lots of people. But when theres no budget its all work. so get on social media and be consistent. Thats what we gotta do bro. all the work. and have fun doing it. because when its all hustle and no fun. people see that shit and are not interested.
@chuckytherapper

@TheRealOfficialDJDemmerneck disagree. there are 365 days in a year. if you post your link once a day all year you'll be in a differnt place by new years. Thats just a fact. Now the way that these social media platforms algorithms work are not working aginst you by limiting your audience nearly as much as they are working for you. Yes they exist, yes they seem challenging. But if zach from pennsylvania only interacts with vidoes and posts about soccer, and social media started showing him all your posts about your music hes gonna do 1 of two things. Stop using the platform altogether or he'll like your shit. but thats the only limiting social media is doing. they are showing your shit to people who act like they wanna see it.
@chuckytherapper

@TheRealOfficialDJDemmerneck im not sure what that section is about. but i can tell you right now homie. The videos on your tik tok will get you more action if you show yourself dj'ing. it may be a transition for you. And it may be some work. but your page will be better for it. show your face and show yourself jamming, having a good time, making music, with your instruments. without your instruments. and that in and of itself is like 5 videos you can do per every 1 song you have. I followed you on there. I hop you follow back.

All the social media channels, Spotify, etc. are playing games with artists. They know we’re all trying to make it on the back of posts on social media or trying to figure out the algorithm, and yet they talk about being authentic! They have independent artists dangling on the end of a string, and we’re all fool enough to follow it. All their artist teams are there as marketing tools for their company, they really could care less about the authenticity of the artist. I mean, for all this lovely lady said, what really new information is there that most people haven’t tried? Sorry, just a little bit jaded by it all recently!

It is more difficult now to grow on Tiktok. The artists she talks about - Chloe Adams and Sam Ryder and quite a few others were on the platform when it was young so as you can imagine they grew easily. Now that Tiktok is mainstream, this has been dialled down massively but also diluted as more people are on the platform than ever. Good on Burstimo as they were trying to tease out answers to help indie/new artists but getting stock answers and case studies that are definitely not possible now.

Very interesting...but, as always with things like this from various promotors/experts etc, it seems to me to be very much aimed at people doing very mainstream styles where it is possible for any tune to become immensely popular if everything lines up and they put the work in. I'd love to see some content aimed at non-mainstream niche genres or, even better, at artists who make niche music that literally doesn't fit into any music business marketing genre descriptions. How can we do better than we imagine but without the usual marketing companies' fantasies of pop stardom virality? For example, don't tell me how to get 11 million streams and a million followers but tell me realistic strategies to get 10,000 streams and 1,000 committed followers. Thanks!

These are great talking points, from a great spokesperson, to make it seem like TikTok is the ultimate tool that musicians have to be on. Unfortunately that's all I believe it is. Talking points. While great for larger artists, the algorithm pushes unfriendly and uncreative content. Instagram reels is more friendly to smaller artists.

As a small artist, I can stand behind this; Instagram Reels has definitely helped me grow and gain more reach. Since I started using it, I now get people coming to my KZfaq videos from Instagram. I've figured out a good routine of just posting my main content on KZfaq and using IG to post teasers. At the end of the day, someone real is going to find your stuff and be interested enough to look you up. It's a slow burn but I really do believe it can work. And I am a firm believer in the notion that if you are an obscure, niche artist, whoever finds you, is meant to find you. I'm just motivating myself little by little and working to find that consistency. And moreover, as someone who has done the research, I can also say that there is surely more creative and friendly content on IG Reels---and content that actually has "contents." I'll go to the crossroads, get down on my knees, before I conform to this mind-numbing, artless degeneration. "Tick Tock," because that's what it does to your brain. There's nothing in it.

amazing the way TikTok is democratizing content creation similar to when KZfaq first got really big. Furthermore, it’s inspiring to see that TikTok is partnering with artists and providing resources to help them grow. A lot of people are complaining about it but the truth is, this is where the next generation is going for entertainment. As artists it’s such a privilege to have this tool available. Now artists with no budget and no team have a better chance of making it just by creating content and collaborating with others…which if you’re an entertainer, should be fun, not something to complain about! I find data analytics and social networking super interesting. Thank you for this interview!!

Please, be very wary of the words, 'Natural' 'Authentic' and 'Organic'. The globally successful artists, in general, have teams of people to help them sculpt and create this 'organic' content. There are people in tiktok that can be contacted directly and if they believe your content will keep people on platform, they can manually 'push the button' on your content, even when it's like 100's of other artists out there. Money and connections talk the loudest.

So don’t rush and get it right. My understanding is they recommend building up your socials before the release. Make sure you have a solid plan on how to create and release content. Leading up to the release day. So you can enter with a ton of momentum. My biggest regret is releasing before I had everything in order because I was so excited to have the master back. Then I put it out and no one cares or was listening and trying to get something going after the fact. So I won’t go on too long but you are in the right place! Watch burstimo videos and also Damien Keyes. He has a great release strategy that I’m sure burstimo approves. (Especially since they have collabed with him on a video) good luck mate! Let solo musicians go live then without having 100 minimum followers because we can't all start with a large following like that. I can't even get to 300!!! no matter what i do! Let alone 1000!!!!

Music industry is too much controlled not by artists themselves but by powerful organisations as biggest record labels, social media promotions and of course people who put the most amount of money in ads. It should absolutely change. But how?

I’ve been using Tik Tok heavily for several years. I have yet to find a truly independent artist with a large following. Every time you think that’s what you’re seeing, when you scratch the surface, they’re on a label. They’re being told to present themselves as indies, just some nobody in their bedroom, when they’re not. If you find someone who’s actually good and independent, they have a very small following, and they end up giving up. The accounts that blow up have multiple people behind them, and often ad spend and bots, all being paid for. She basically admits here that they’re working with labels to give them the inside track, and that being independent is futile. The more I see, the more convinced I am that the whole idea that you can break as an independent artist on the internet is a giant scam, designed to take money from broke musicians. That the big corporate labels have everything locked down with these platforms, but they want to create the illusion that anyone can make it. Lil’ Nas X, for example, was 1000% an “industry plant”, and they have flat out lied about that. The dishonesty and fakery in the corporate entertainment industry is so deep that it’s an assumed way of business. “Hey, it’s show business after all - of course it’s fantasy and illusion”. But the audience is being used like a bunch of suckers, and everything is a lie. I have no doubt they spend many hours sitting around debating “how to fake authenticity”. Without their corporate cash and teams of writers, producers, etc, on a truly level playing field, their “artists” would crash. Unless or until the major labels are completely put out of business, independent artists are largely wasting their time. I think you can grow a small audience, but not enough to support you. At this point, almost every “artist” You see getting traction comes from a rich, connected family that got them signed to a label.

Labels clearly have power and overall better tools to get their artists heard. But what you said could also be the other way around: maybe every really good indipendent artist just gets noticed and signed by a label. Therefore there’s no big “indie” artist cuz they all have some sort of support by labels already
@vaportrails7943
@vaportrails7943 Жыл бұрын
@@DaveKill3R27 The major labels don’t look for musicians anymore. And you don’t even have to be able to sing (or rap). They sign people with existing fan bases outside of music, especially off of Disney and Nickelodeon, and then the same handful of writers and producers put them in the cookie cutter, tune them up, and voila - you’ve got the next big thing for the next five minutes. They signed the “cash me ousside” girl from Dr. Phil. Just remember that. Aiming to become a social media “influencer” is probably a much better route to success than being a musician. But the best route to major label success is to be a child actress with rich/famous/connected parents. Hands down. Almost every single one of them is.

@Chris P Bacon They had connections, and came from wealthy families. If you have enough money, you don’t even need the major labels. That’s true. The fact that you want to defend them makes you the sucker.
