She’s such a talented artist/songwriter. And so unknown. Extremely underrated and under appreciated.

I went to see Hall and Oates in April of '85 and because of a snow and ice storm here in Connecticut that day, their warm up act, Big Country, couldn't make it in time. So as the story goes, Daryl Hall handpicked 'Til Tuesday to fill in at the last moment. He knew talent when he saw it. I remember the show vividly and immediately went out and got their album.

I really admire what she said at the end - about how she finally just decided to do this because it was what she really wanted to do no matter how much work it would take because she knew she could do it, and damn she sure did! And I enjoyed that she still had a bit of a Virginia accent back then. No trace of it now.

This is so fun! Thank you so much for uploading it. Yes, Aimee is strikingly beautiful. I don't know if she is aware of it or cares much though, which makes her even ore loveable. She looks about half her age now, still making great music.

The Voices Carry video is beautiful and heartbreaking😢❤️😢😢 I always loved Aimee’s vulnerability and her soulful voice ❤️🌹😢 P.S. I also love that the host of this interview called the music video haunting. So true❤️😢😢

Local radio stations playing local bands doesn't happen anymore. Stations are owned by big corporations, not by people like "Frank" like they used to, and actually had an interest in the local scene. I miss those days. Younger people will never know what that was like.

Wish the record company hadn't mutilated their career. Robert Holmes is an amazing guitarist, and Aimee Mann is one hell of a composer/singer/bassist.

Strange, looking back - and to be 100% honest as I never really even thought of it before. Aimee is a very good looking women. If I hadn't loved her music so much I might have noticed that back then. But I wasn't watching TV or music videos. I was buying records and playing then in my room. trying to figure out bass lines, guitar riffs and doing what all introvert teens do with music. I'm glad she never tried to play off being another model face or "beautiful" person using that to boost her career. She easily could have been in those days and even today she's still a good looking person that looks younger than she is. Someone I would have crushed on for sure. But I'm glad I found her music first. Craftsmanship is something that totally consumes me. Even now I was looking for a new song of hers. But, noticed in this interview ( and I should note after 25 years listening, this is the first TT interview I've ever seen) she was / is very good looking. I dunno. I just think it is cool. Not really important...but, you know. She made a great catalog of music and never played the sex symbol thing like many others did - but she could have.

I completely agree. I really think she doesn’t realize how stunningly beautiful she is🌹 (and I don’t think she realized it back then either) I don’t think it should be about the person’s looks (just as you said) I honestly feel it should be about the music only and whether they can sing or play instruments. But she was and is really quite striking🌹 I love her humbleness🌹it makes her even more beautiful (seriously a million times more so)

I respect her a lot for that too. She is just "different". She seems a bit of shy, introverted and nerdy person and, in all likelyhood, she always has been that way. But you can easily overlook it if it comes packaged in the body of a young supermodel! So, seeing her now, still beautiful but being much older and being much more "herself", it feels very strange indeed looking back at the beginnings of her career.

1:38 she is right on spot in that radio (up to about year 2000) can make or good break artists and also promote Stone Age idiocy. This was a great band but I would have moved them more into harder female rock by 1988. Robert Holmes is an awesome guitarist.

It's so funny to see this because I just went to her show a couple of weeks ago. And I have a strange connection with her because aside from seeing the Go-Gos at Taste of Chicago in 1985, I have only see three concerts: two Aimee Mann shows in recent years (smaller venues) and one large arena in 1985 with Tom Petty at the top of the bill and guess who was the opening act? Til Tuesday. And I believe they did not have a hit yet. "Voices Carry" must have just been released or something. And now Tom Petty is gone...Weird synchronicity.

Nearly 40 years later and I would say the Boston music scene is pretty much extinct. I could be wrong? But from the vantage point of the suburbs, I don’t see it. I am not saying there isn’t a jazz club or so to see live music. But as a scene for developing new artists, I say it’s toast. Heck, I was standing on Marlborough street a few years ago. It was quieter than a back road I live on in a sleepy suburb 50 miles away
