This was a fantastic movie! I was turned off by the trailer thinking it would be corny like Will Smith's Aladdin, but I saw this on the day all movie tickets were $3 on 9/3/22 and I was blown away. The writing for this film and Idris Elba's story telling was so captivating. It was a beautifully told story. Definitely disserving of an award. More well written movies and characters like these will most certainly bring me back to the movies. I had seen Bullet Train earlier in the day and that was just junk; wish I could get my $3 back on that one.

Aces In All the Right Places. Not Sure *HOW* Many Times I Saw This Gem Masterpiece In Theatres but it was > Three. And with each subsequent viewing it just got Richer, More Intellegent, More Alert, More Respectful, and More Philisophical. 💯🎨 Lemme Know if You'd (Ever) Like Some Similar Recommendations of this Calibre.

Worth Watching! Just don't expect the usual Hollywood high emotive get your guts & heart in a tight lump in your throat, with your fingers gripping wherever you're sitting. Which makes it refreshing!

From the 60s to the 90s ...Hollywood understood that a genie was a slave and to cast someone Black as that would cause a backlash. However this just doesn't have a ref to genie movies...it references Love and Thunder with the mention of Thor and Zeus then gives a cute wink to American Gods by casting the queen of Sheba as a Djinn. Idris Elbas imprisonment in the bottle is the traditional buck breaking scene from the old slavery movies. Is he really that broke that he had to star in this degrading shyt?
