Keith Cooper looks at using tilt/shift lenses. This video looks at shifting the lens left and right as opposed to the more usual up/down movement. The combination of horizontal shift and camera movement can significantly change the apparent perspective.

QUESTION: what do you think of Cambo Actus with Pentax 645 and Mamiya? I also have enlarger lenses which are surprising good. This question really is about GFX100S with Canon TSE vs GFX 100S with Actus body and Pentax 67/645 abd Mamyia 67. I was about sell the Actus but this video is giving me second thoughts. I have found the Actus very useful but slow to set up and not as rigid as I’d like. Your opinion would be greatly welcome. Unfortunately my career as an architect consultant leaves me little time to actually test and use the gear.

I've not used the GFX with a view camera style adapter, but it may be that those lenses show their age, performance wise. I've quite a few articles looking at M645 lenses and they vary a lot in usefulness. As an aside to the topic of L/R shift-how is that Rogeti tripod head working out for you, Keith? Would you recommend it? Compared to the Arca Swiss D4? Thanks!

It's very solid, however I don't know the D4 to compare though. I have a new geared rotational plate to go with it that I'm going to be testing rogeti.com/products/cap-gza. I've a Laowa 15mm shift lens on its way to test, so will be using it all during the testing.

Bit confusing between panning vs shift!

In what way are you confused by it? I'm always looking to give better examples... The key is to remember is that with panning you move the camera to point in a different direction, whilst with shift, the lens is moved.

@@KeithCooper yes I understand that. Just that sometimes in the video, it is hard to separate the impact of the panning from the shift. In any case, great video as usual.
