Guys, you're really sweet! Thanks for appreciating such an icon of our cuture's. We're so proud of Tim here. His potent voice, his carisma.. He`s been such a sweet person, like a close friend of everybody's, see? Although he was a little controversial. He has spirituaized songs, some really romantic ones (he was not very lucky with love), too, and great party songs, in which the lyrics don`t matter much, but the rythm and his melodic voice. He`s a Brazilian love.

Tim Maia is my mom's favorite singer! I grew up listening to all of his records at home! My mom had a huge collection of soul, funk, blues albums (both American and Brazilian artists)! Tim and Motown ruled our household 😂

Yes, Tim Maia lived in USA for a couple of years when he was very young. There he learned about this kind of "mojo" of soul music. Great voice.

Sebastião Maia, o Tim Maia. singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Tião da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. He lived for a while in the USA and brought Soul to Brazil in the 70's.

I'm from North Carolina, but I've been listening to Tim for about 20 years now. Alcione is my favorite female singer. She is from Sao Luiz de Maranhao. Listen to her song entitled A Loba and try to get the translated lyrics. You guys should try to go to a Samba school before you leave. Mangueira or Mocidade are 2 of my favorite. Obrigado!

His nephew Ed Motta is quite talented in his own right. He does a cover of another Brazilian 70s soul legend, Ed Cassiano. Check out the live version of "Do you have other love?". He did his AOR album in both English and Portuguese, on separate albums. "Dondi" is in English, and American guitar player David T. Walker played on it. Tim Maia, quintessential 70s Brazilian soul.

It does sound a lot like Mo Town in the 70’s, and being from there, I guess Rondel would know. Really, his voice & the Portuguese makes it unique. And, the melody & words sound really heart wrenching. 😟 Thanks for this.😊
