LEARNING TO FLY by Pink Floyd I just posted this, but I’ll post it under here as well-just in case. I’m new to the channel and recently watched some Pink Floyd reactions. I don’t see Learning to Fly in here anywhere. Am I missing something, or have you not reacted to this one? The lyrics hit my soul at the core. 🔥

This was my father's funeral song. My wife and son stayed up all night creating a PowerPoint to this song that we showed at the service. He was a good man, and these words will always echo in my heart as being what my Dad was about.

I love the line that says, “know the difference between sleeping with someone and sleeping with someone you love.“ That is so deep and so true. I venture to say that there are a lot of people in this world that really don’t know the difference.

First time I heard this song, I automatically thought of my son. I raised my 2 kids in this fashion. I have had several compliments about them throughout their lives. They are 30- daughter and 26 - son. The most recent compliment I got about my son was from his girlfriend of 2 years. I was at work when she sent a message about what a great man & person he is. Made me cry bc she is said that only a great woman could raise a man like him. I finally get to meet this beautiful young lady August 8th. They live in New Mexico and I stay in North Carolina. She told me how excited she is to finally get to meet me. She just doesn't know how much I am looking forward to meeting her. And the holding the door is a basic thing that makes a difference to ppl. Plus, helping the elderly with lifting or loading their grocery. It makes a difference.

You really need to check out her versions of the songs, her voice is hauntingly great. This song reminds me so much of my Grandma! Every virtue in it, she preached. She always had my brother and I hold the door for elders and of course please and thank you. I always loved that she didn't just bark orders like parents will do. She would ask me to "please" go clean my room. Then she would thank me for doing it. It made me truly want to please her. Now, I am teaching my Grandkids the same...

Our world needs this song right now. I too was raised to be a gentleman. Open and hold all doors for ladies and the elderly or even those who struggle to get around. Show everyone respect and always work to earn others respect. Always do what's right even if it costs me. Be honest, kind and considerate of others. You never know what someone is going through nor what a simple kind gesture might mean to them in that very moment. Try to be a light for someone. Nothing in life is free, always work hard and have a good work ethic. And if through your hard work and/or good fortune you wind up more fortunate than another individual, don't brag or show them up. Yes, be proud of what you've accomplished but like Tim said, "Don't forget to turn back around. Help the next one in line, always stay humble and kind."

You think it is small. But since moving from Texas/Oklahoma, here to Arizona, such a small kind gesture is rare, and it means so much when a gentleman holds a door for me. Even a lady holding the door for me matters. I always hold the door for others, because it matters. Simple gestures of kindness remind us that there are still good people in the world.

I visited the USA only once in my life in 2018. I and my wife were doing a roundtrip there for 2 weeks. We arrived relatively late to God knows where... probably some part of the Grand Cagnon. There was a bus taking to you to see some points and then it came back down. If you missed the last one, you had to walk a few miles, so the last bus was CRAMPED. We were sitting - it was a very-very long day of traveling. I spotted a nice lady next to me, and as You would here, at home - I stood up, tapped the lady on her shoulder and said something like "Excuse me, may I offer you my seat?" There were about 30 people on the loud bus suddenly staring in dead silence. The lady was also stunned and suprised. I realized this may not be a thing in the US or something. But the lady smiled and about 5-6 older gentlemen sitting were nodding at me approvingly. All the people around us were from Texas as I got to know and I recount their approval as one of the proudest moments of my life... Very small thing but it feels great even remembering.

I had a teacher at my sons elementary school single me out and ask if I was his mom because she wanted to tell me face to face what a gentleman my 5th grader was. He saw her coming in the door struggling with her arms full and he ran over and opened the door asked if he could help carry her stuff. She told me how refreshing it was for her to see and she noticed it was such a natural gesture for him and he didn't think twice before helping. Makes me sad that common courtesy seems so rare that it is "celebrated" instead of a part of life. I am definitely a proud mom tho!

Been reading a lot about Stevie Ray Vaughan lately. One of his biographers said he interviewed about 100 people who knew Stevie & the most commonly used words to describe him were "humble, kind & sweet". Made me think of this song. And speaking of SRV, please react to "Life Without You" live at the Capitol Theater (specifically THAT video). He wrote it for a dear friend who died & also delivers a beautiful message to us all right in the middle of this particular performance.💙🌿💚

I'm teaching my 10yr old son to be this way. Strong but humble and kind.... I'd rather drink with you than fight you. But I'm ready to do either! Being kind doesn't mean you are weak!!!

This is your main message! We mean more to each other than we think. I hope this message continues to go around. The best songs out there relay kindness.

This song was written by a gal named Lori McKenna, amazing songwriter but also a great singer in her own right. Check out her song "People Get Old"!

Holding doors for folks is my calling card at this point. My grandma taught me that when I was a boy. Sometimes it does make a persons day.
