I saw Tim live a few months ago on the "Back" tour, and they did this in memoriam to his tour manager. Bawled my eyes out then, and just bawled them out again listening to Missy Higgins version. Also, if you want the same emotional roller-coaster from TV that you get from Tim's live shows - "Upright" is just amazing. Watch it now.

Oh man, I didn't realise Tim wrote it! I literally stumbled across it at 3am today and immediately fell hell over heels, bought it straight away on iTunes. Guess I'm going to have to figure out how to get the series into my eyeballs next...

I finally watched Upright, and its absolutely brilliant...I lost my mom several years ago to Cancer, and drove across the US to say goodbye, this series and especially this song hold a special place in my heart now. Thank you for writing this Tim.

I'm that used to seeing Tim with make up that he kinda looks odd without it, not in a bad way. It's a bit like when I see a woman I like without make up and think, damn, she's so beautiful why does she have to hide it with "slap". Oh, and Missy is gorgeous too. 😊

Interesting to hear Missy say she felt it was about longing, it always felt to me like it was about loss. Trying to put a better perspective on particularly bereavement, the idea that being gone isn't really all there is to it, about the memory of that person living on with you. Maybe that's through the lens of Upright (which is outstanding) with Meg talking to her brother in the car, but that's how it felt to me.

Initially I felt it was about loss too. The loss of the relationship he had with his brother and then the loss of his love with the sister in law. But by the time I got to the end of the series I felt like it was actually a song about longing to be in Billies life and longing to have those moments with her and he felt he never would or could

Great song. It was a great series - which unfortunately I had to watch on some bootleg website somewhere in the dark corner of the web. Amazon should definitely pick it up. I'd really enjoy a sequel, and there are several directions they could go with this one.

Loved this song before I saw upright and love it more now I binged watched the entire series in one night. I actually think there is four people it could be about but I think by the end I felt like it was Billie’s song which just made it even sadder/more touching? Anyway, if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend, stick with it past the first ep it’s really beautifully made. Tim is fantastic, and the girl who plays meg is ensorcelling

Tim, you are mistaken when you talk about you not being a vocalist. There is a connection that I felt in Upright when you performed this that I felt was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. I literally wept like a baby. Maybe I just really felt for the camel? Who Knows.

Tim is a genius beloved by millions of people. Try purchasing a ticket to one of his shows, no matter how large the venue. It's next to impossible. Those of us who love Tim's intelligence, humor, introspection, creativity, and humanity ADORE videos like this one. It's fine if you don't, but please don't waste your time or ours commenting on Tim Minchin videos in the future.
