4:33 The snake that spins as it goes down the stick is also meant to be held by the snake causing the stick to spin showing the illusion of the cat and cat-skull flashing fast enough to create an optical illusion. Based on a old wooden toy that would flash a bird on one side and an empty cage on the other but gives the illusion that the bird is in the cage when it spins fast enough.

I just spent like 10 minutes looking online for that last "snake toy" amazed by how realistic it looks and moves, I thought the "toy's" name was Lissa and I was just about to ask Dan on facebook if he sold those so I could prank my snake hating mum with one. The "snake in grass" isn't the same as "the Pharaoh's Serpent" which is indeed so dangerous that the experiment is illegal in several large countries.
