Because of the Canadian only matchups in the North Division during the 2020-2021 shortened NHL season, Tim Stützle's second year in the NHL was his first opportunity to play against American NHL teams. Stützle started his sophomore year off slow with only 21 points in his first 40 games, but his play progressed leaps and bounds as he finished his remaining 39 games firing on all cylinders with 37 points. Early in the season the Senators were COVID-19 ridden, which left coach D.J. Smith no other choice but to try Stützle at centre for the first time. This change gave Stützle more of an opportunity to have the puck on his stick, which led to more clean defensive zone breakouts and offensive zone entry's - as demonstrated throughout this video.

best player from his draft class imo. Saw so many claim raymond is better but if you watch stutzle, he's better at basically everything and his skating and skill is elite already. Extremely underrated shot and unreal vision and passing as well. Excited to see what he does with debrincat

Exactly. Some also don’t realize that he started the season with Chris Tierney. Raymond played with Larkin for the entire year. And yet Timmy still caught up to him

100%, he played with 3rd and 4th line guys last year debrincat and giroux on his line with be lethal, expect his point totals to rise a lot this year

His ability to deceive is elite. I can't think of many players that have the awareness and the skills to back it up. The way he will cut back (sometimes repeatedly) against his opponents is amazing. Gives me a lot of Patrick Kane vibes minus Kane's backhand .

The jump he had in his 2nd season is crazy. His rookie year I remember watching every game and like he’d have rlly good games but some games he was bad or not noticeable (kinda hard when he had AHL players as linemates). But his 2nd season man, every game he was all over the game, he’s not gonna win a Selke but his 2-way game is rlly good. Ever since DJ moved him to Center he’s been insane. Face offs need work but giroux is here for that. Think he could be a all star this season if not debrincat/giroux

The Selke is a reputation award, based on expectations as much as actual performance. So Tim's not winning one anytime soon. But count his Stone-like takeaways and watch his one-man zone exits. He's becoming an outstanding 200-foot player..

He's so fun to watch! anybody who calls this kid a diver is just a jealous clown. this video shows how he draws penalties with his skill and speed. this stud is going to light it up for years. GO SENS GO!
