@@KyoGreh Jazz tuning/tension is much higher than other styles of music, making it easier to play rolls and other intricate stickings as well as giving the ability for the drums to cut through the music, without having to play loud.

Great short lesson! Just wanna add,this is great because you can continue straight back into your cymbal ostinato. Someone new to trading fours will benefit by not losing time feel . Perfect transition with no sloppiness. Right back to the 1. First note of ostinato. Just wanted to explain what I believe is the 'why' of the video.

That’s an interesting take! Appreciate the input. The “why” of the video is to get the phrasing of the solo to have a more interesting exit point rather than “one.” I chose beat 4 but the & of 4 is great as well. The only time I consider the cymbal to be playing an ostinato is when I’m practicing independence exercises. The ride pattern should be flowing and 1/4 note based when swinging. Cheers!
