It looks like a well made, heavy built, attachment. The one thing I've noticed that seems concerning is that there is no way, that I can tell, to guide the tree as it is falling. I've seen with this quite a few reputable manufacturers that build similar tree shears that have a top bar to help "push" or guide which direction a tree falls. It seems as if it would be very possible with this setup for a tree to fall back onto the machine, or fall towards an object you didn't want it to land on... fence, house, ect.. I could potentially see an operator cutting a tree that is weighted with limbs more to one side, shearing a tree, for it to fall back towards the machine with no way to get out of the way fast enough. I'm somewhat suprised that hasn't been addressed being it seems to be a simple solution.

Great observation! Thanks for sharing. If you notice throughout the demo that the trees are falling to the left or right, that's because the operator judges the lean of the tree and if he/she needs to compensate and have the tree fall one way or another, the tilt functionality enables them to slope the cut in the direction they want the tree to go. This works magnificently, and thanks to there being no guard (usually they have to be pretty tall to offer any protection), the operator has an UNOBSTRUCTED view of the cut and can adjust as needed. Should there be any surprises, the operator can simply lift the tree shear using the boom of the loader and back away making it fall in the opposite direction. I was present at the shoot, and the operator had a nearly perfect success rate for having the tree fall in line with all of the others. This tree shear has been around for almost 20 years now, and except for being beefed up over the years, it's pretty much the same as the original by Sidney. Would like to hear from the manufacturer on this. There is a major failure on this. Freeze frame at minute 1:03 of this video. There is a stress fracture on the upper loop holding in the blade pin.

I'VE HAD 2 QUICK ATTACH SHEARS. ONE OF THEIR FIRST ONES AND A LATER VERSION. THE LATER VERSION WAS A BETTER UNIT, BUT, NO WAY WOULD IT CUT HARDWOODS 10-12" DIA. AS THEY ADVERTISE. USE IT IN COLDER MONTHS SUCH AS WINTER FROZEN WOOD....YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME...CAN'T DO IT. WATCHING YOUR VIDEO, IT APPEARS YOU'RE CUTTING TREES THAT ARE SOFT WOODS OR ROTTING. EITHER WAY I BELIEVE IT IS LIMITED IN USE. IT DOES APPEAR TO BE A LOT HEAVIER BUILT THAN THE QUICK ATTACH SO MAYBE????

It really depends on the wood you're cutting, as you say. The trees in this video are alder which is a pretty soft wood to shear. However, if you check out our instagram page you'll find a video of a customer cutting a 10"+ mesquite tree. It performs as advertised!
