Ramsdale is the clear 1 if Southgate has actually been watching him play the guy passes like a playmaker.

He's clearly the most talented English keeper. He's a modern goalie, fantastic passing range and great in 1v1 situations.

Since Southgate has England playing out from the back Ramsdale should for sure be England's #1. He might not be the best shot stopper but when Mikel Arteta replaced Bernd Leno with Ramsdale it was because of Ramsdale's abilities on the ball. If you're going to play out from the back then your GK needs to have this - see Ederson for Man City as another example. Southgate is lacking when it comes to team selection, prioritising the atmosphere around the team above whether the players selected have the best attributes to play the position and in the style that Southgate wants. Ben White is also someone who should be selected ahead of Maguire and Dier not just because he's a better defender than either but because he's excellent with the ball.

England won't progress through the Euros because Southgate is not picking players on merit. Why is Ben White not in the squad, don't get me started on the goalie, Ramsdale should be no. 1. But then again I'm a club over country supporter. Arsenal fans need our players fresh for the last 10 games☝🏾

I feel for international tournaments you don’t really have the timing and luxury to teach players an progressive system and so keepers that are really effective with their feet are as important as at club level and keepers that are good at saving penalties are probably better at international level.

no need to "ride or die" with Harry Maguire when Ben White is available. White may be playing RB this year but he played CB all of last year and at previous clubs, plus he is an infinitely better footballer than Maguire OR Dier. Only Stones is better (at CB) than him right now and he is flexible enough to play RB or RCB in a 3. Southgate is not picking players on form or talent, he has favorite people and I think it is massively to his detriment and to the detriment of the team. Same goes for Ramsdale and Pickford, tho that is a close call and debatable at least. The CB issue is not even close.
