I lost my dad a few years ago to the esophageal cancer. I'm so grateful for the last few years we had together as family and cherish that we made that a priority. As others have said we will be here when you return to Millie and the journey.

I am so sorry to hear about your father. My own father passed away from Esophageal Cancer, and like you we were given a time frame not a possibility of recovery. We certainly made the best of the time we had left and judging from your video you will do the same. I have loved your videos and I certainly hope in the future that you continue them. However, with that time you have left I wish for you the peace and joy of spending time with your family. I just went through a surprise triple bypass operation and my sister is dealing with ovarian cancer so life throws everyone a curve ball every now and then. The important thing to remember is to keep smiling and laugh at life. It helps tremendously. Look forward to your return when things settle down.

Time with family becomes so precious when there is a limit on how much there is left, Adam I am so sorry to hear about your father. In 2019 I lost my leg in an aeroplane accident and I had a lot of time to re-evaluate my life during rehab and what I was going to do next with my life. You both have been such an inspiration to me telling your story and sharing your life on the ocean. Because of you both I am writing this sitting on my recently purchased Formosa 56 that I sailed back from New Zealand to Australia with my partner Leanne with only one leg. We are currently on the hard in Port Adelaide getting her ready to sail around the world next year. This would not of happened without your inspirational videos educational tips and professionalism on sailing and your effort in making these videos so professional. I am a medical physicist. My job is to oversee radiation therapy for cancer patients. They are special people and they have a way of surprising you. We hope your time with your dad is nothing short of wonderful and you have all the time that you both need. Your videos have been engaging, beautiful, funny, and engrossing. If you decide to return to KZfaqland we will be waiting. You two have a special talent and are a gift in this world. My heart is breaking for! Recently lost my mom, and was incredibly fortunate to have a lot of time with her in her last few weeks. Precious time that I would not trade for the world. We shared a lot of stories, a lot of laughs, and a few tears. There IS light for you on the other side of this event; be kind to yourself if it takes a while to find it.

A&K - you have your priorities straight, and your decisions make total sense. It is a tough situation but not a tough call. Make the most of this time, love your dad, each other, and those who want to help you. Shortly before his passing last year, Jimmy Buffett gifted us with Bubbles Up. When the journey gets long, dial up that song for some solace. It is a great message.

Lost my father to cancer last month. Similar struggles but lasted a little more than 2 years. Lots of ups and downs but the end was rapid and brutal. Watch for a sequence of bad events. It's generally the herald. Enjoy your time with your father.

Hey Chief. I'm so, so sorry to hear about your Dad. As a fellow sandgroper who faced the same scenario - dream job overseas etc - I can relate. I made the decision to return indefinitely. It was my Dad you know. But it was not the right decision. Indefinite means having to work. Indefinite means sorting out a place of your own. Indefinite means all the golden handcuffs of life. It may mean more time living near your Dad but it's not more quality time. If I had that time again I'd have done a couple of 3 month leaves of absence.

Take your time be with family....wishing your family some peace.
