I agree that he's telling the truth. I'm just not so certain that it leads to any solution to the situation. As evidenced from the fight in Ukraine and display of Russian might (or lack thereof), the United States has already achieved hegemony. Russia is a paper tiger and China is in economic collapse. Both of them have been feeding propaganda to the world about how powerful they are militarily and economically and the lazy journalists merely reported what they were fed. When the Russians said the ruble was still strong and unaffected by the war, that's what was reported. When the Chinese said they sold more electric cars than Tesla, that's what was reported. They haven't reported that Chinese population is declining, the primary requirement of a capitalist economy (what China is really functioning as). Both Russia and China are failing hard. But for the military/industrial complex to continue, they need to keep inventing enemies. The primary driving force of most first and second world economies is sale of arms. Without that, for example, Israel's economy would collapse.

It's always great to hear prof. Sachs! His knowledge, experience and integrity make him a rare and invaluable voice so needed today!! But his hopes or calls to European "leaders" are in vain. Many Americans seem to over-estimate the possibility of an independent voice in Europe. The European leaders are massively incompetent, often childish in their narcissism, and servile to the extreme. Europe has no sovereignty and will not aquire one any time soon. It's sad, but Europe has become irrelevant as an actor in international affairs.

Europe has become irrelevant because as soon as a criminal bully shows up, europe's leaders jump on their green and yellow bicycles and pedal away in the opposite direction. Some who's bikes were stolen, just soil themselves and look the other way. When you had it too good for too long, you'll give anything to the barbarians at your gates to leave you in peace for a few more years. We don't live in a futuristic utopia where everyone is a university professor. The strong or the evil will come for the weak or the stupid.

Russia tried to get a peace deal done for 8 years, including the Minsk Accords but Ukraine -- pushed by NATO -- refused to honor it. Then Ukraine and Russia had a peace deal almost done in April 2022 -- and Boris Johnson, representing NATO and Biden, rushed to kiev to talk Zelensky out of it. NATO doesn't want peace and they'll destroy Ukraine in the process.@@roadrunner694

Yes, you are right. There have been sporadic but sparse protests in Germany that I know of but nothing as a critical mass. What I am surprised is that Americans have not responded as they did during the Vietnam war. The only explanation, IMHO, is that the media is completely compromised, not even a squeak. Makes me sick as NATO and the Americans are literally flirting with a nuclear conflict flaring up should Russia see itself imperiled.😢😢

The Americans will never coexist peacefully with both Russia and China. From 2018 The planning of WWIII. “A bipartisan commission appointed by Congress issued a lengthy report Tuesday backing the Pentagon’s plans to prepare for a “great-power” war against Russia, China, or both, making clear that the Trump administration’s belligerent policies are shared by the Democratic Party. Safe in the knowledge that its findings will never be seriously reported by the mass media, the authors of this report do not mince words about what such a war will mean. A war between the United States and China, which according to the report might break out within four years, will be “horrendous” and “devastating.” The military will “face greater losses than at any time in decades.” Such a war could lead to “rapid nuclear escalation,” and American civilians will be attacked and likely killed. It is impossible to understand anything in American politics without recognizing one fundamental reality: the events and scandals that dominate political discourse, which make it onto the evening news and into headlines on news sites and social media feeds, have precious little to do with the considerations of those who actually make decisions. The media talking heads play their assigned roles, knowing that the most important topics can be discussed only within very circumscribed limits. Those who actually make policy-a select group of high-ranking members of Congress, Pentagon officials, and think-tank staffers, as well as White House aides-speak an entirely different language among themselves, and in publications they know the general public will not read, and the media will not seriously report.

The time for Talking was 2014-2015 and march 2022 just a few of the times that Putin lead Peace negotiations. Which were flattly refused by the US/NATO & Ukraine. Today Ukraine is collapsing, after losing three armies worth of troops and weapons, Yet the same hostile rhetoric, continues from NATO & Ukraine, who are the provocateurs of this conflict. It was Ukraine, that massed 60-100,000 troops on the East Ukraine demarcation lines on February 16 8 days before the SMO invasion happened which was a probing attack to get Ukraine to the negotiation table in Istanbul, where an agreement benefiting Ukraine was torn up at the behest of NATO. Today Putin appears to have had enough of NATO's BS and will allow the Russian military to roll over what is left of this latest Ukraine Military to secure a complete surrender.

The American demand for “ regime change “ in other words to control is going explode in its face. Old men ( Victoria N ) with huge egos make these wars that young men get killed in. These old men beat their breasts with righteous indignation while people die. This is another war that cannot be won. Remember Churchill said power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, America is there now. America which is now weighed down with debt has lost its head and the EU follows closely. America was slow to get into WW11 but have been in wars ever since , leaving death , chaos and civil war behind. Wake up Europe wake up America wake up from this dangerous need to bully.

In an article authored by Jeffrey Sachs titled "What Ukraine Needs to Learn from Afghanistan," he asserts that the proxy war in Ukraine commenced nine years ago when the US government supported the ousting of Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych. According to Sachs, the US took issue with Yanukovych's efforts to maintain Ukraine's neutrality, whereas the US aimed to expand NATO to encompass Ukraine (as well as Georgia). This perspective aligns with the narrative put forth by the Kremlin.

Sachs' points of view are well researched, documented and based on his decades of work in Eastern Europe and the former USSR as well as his direct access to many of the key players on both sides. He was more than just a casual observer of many events that hold historical importance. One would think that such a person is at least worth listening to. I just don't believe many people even understand this world we now live in today. And it's because they've not paid any attention to anything that we've all been watching for the last 25 years. We see so many debates over so many of these various geopolitical issues today, but we still don’t see anybody asking what this is all really about? Or even asking why this is all happening? Today, it seems that nobody wants to know, let alone try to work it out, (to then understand it). Only, when we just look at everything we’ve all seen over at least these last 25 years? Surely we all must understand at least a part of it? Yet it seems it's the truth, that nobody wants to hear, (and that's understandable), only people only want to deny anything that can explain all of this, and deny it, without being able to offer up anything themselves, as I'll explain. When really looking at the cause for all of this?, could it actually be, that all we've been watching over at least these last 25 years, is the US carrying out a plan they’ve put in place, knowing their economy had to collapse? Could it be, the US has known for many years now, that the only way they can avoid complete collapse, would be to force in a "single world currency"? The US has known for many years now, their economy had to collapse, (and I believe, they’ve actually planned for it). And everything else points to it. The effect of them doing so, would see the US, overnight, become completely debt free, this explains their endless massive military overspending, it also explains China being allowed to hold so much US debt with so many US government bonds - (US debt of about $1.4 trillion). And it would see the US achieve full global financial & military control, (a very nice achievement, some fools might argue). It would become American Tyranny, (in other words), and that's no different from Nazi tyranny. How Ironic! The US dollar is the world’s reserve currency, and is/was used by many countries to sell/purchase their oil/gas/energy etc, meaning billions of dollars are kept by those countries for their energy purchasing. What that allowed the USA to do, was to print billions of US currency, without ever-showing the real rate of inflation that would always arise from such massive currency printing, but because so much US currency sits in bank vaults all over the world those dollars would/should never find their way into the actual US economy, (meaning the USA could hold their rate of inflation well below the rate It always should have been). The problem today, is, that many countries are now buying and selling their energy in other currencies, and they'll all need to dump/exchange all those dollars they’ve held for so many years, with the currency they’re going to use. When those dollars filter into the main US economy, the inflation will explode (as It can’t be hidden any more). Without a single world currency, it will see hyperinflation, with the price of a loaf of bread, (for example), skyrocketing to well over $10, Collapsing the US as we’ve never seen before, the US will be left in enormous debt for hundreds of years to come, yet with no way of creating any more debt. It will all be over. And that will see a break-up of the Union, and a complete separation of the states, much like we saw with the collapse of the USSR. This is why we’re seeing this attempt to drag Russia and China into a war, as I'll explain. The US can't force in a single world currency, with both Russia and China's nuclear threats saying get lost, so, to avoid complete collapse, sees the USA, today, needing to remove those nuclear threats, (to then force in a single world currency), or it's soon going to be, all over, and the USA will collapse just like the USSR. They actually nearly had it done with the collapse of the USSR, (what an unexpected bonus that was), it meant they could do it, without war! Only they messed that right up because they took their eye off one man, - Putin. After the collapse of the USSR, the CIA were bribing Yeltsin throughout the 1990s, they created pro USA oligarchs, by selling off Russian resources in illegally set up and corrupt CIA led auctions, they took it so far many Russians were starving to death, and it ended with the US really believing that Russia couldn’t ever become a threat to them again. They kept Russia in a state of pandemonium through Yeltsin’s reign, believing they had sealed Russia’s fate to the toilet. When Putin came to power, the US could not work him out, but when they invaded Iraq, and Putin, (craftily as it bought him time), did not veto them, they believed they still had Russia under their control, and Putin was just a pushover like Yeltsin. History will come to see Putin’s tactic of not vetoing the Iraq invasion, as a brilliant geopolitical move, and as “world changing”, as he completely fooled the US not to bother looking at Russia as any sort of potential threat, (and that really damaged their plans). While the US were invading countries around the world, (with no one to stop them). Putin had quietly begun creating Russia an extremely effective military defence, and he'd upgraded all Russian weaponry to a level able to hold its own, if not beat, any nation on the planet. The US, blind to this, carried on, as they used NATO to murder Gaddafi, and as they kept Iraq destabilized, (by transferring hundreds of well known terrorist commanders, into Iraq from Guantánamo Bay), to help keep it in chaos over the next decade. They then set their sights on Syria, and were preparing for a ground invasion (as with Iraq), when out of the blue Putin vetoed that action, stopping them dead in their tracks.- The US then took a much closer look at Russia, when the US understood how they’d misread Putin, they then set out to demonize him throughout the entire world, but it still left the USA unable to use ground troops in Syria. In Ukraine, the US were at first all upbeat about Yanukovych winning the Presidency of Ukraine, because he’d shown an interest in joining the EU, and it was only when he saw the EU had added clauses he was unaware of, did he then refuse to sign to the EU, but instead, he asked Russia for a loan, and stated he was trying to work on a closer relationship with Russia, then all of this kicked off. And we're still seeing the results today. But it really is just another thing that does show Russia just how desperate the US is to force this all into a war. In Syria, the US decided to use proxy’s in the form of terrorists, they recruited, trained, armed, paid and then sent those terrorists into Syria, and they murdered people in the streets, they took over towns and cities across Syria with murder and butchery. It was all done long before we saw ISIS cross into Syria from Iraq. This is all about the USA’s attempt to force in a single world currency, and with NATO’s really treacherous and pathetic stance in all of this, it seems that if the US $ collapses then so does the Euro. Things have dramatically changed over these last 25 years, and they've changed to such an extent, that it sees us, today, becoming exactly what we fought the second world war to prevent. That’s the bottom line of what we’re all really facing. Putin knows all he needs is time, he knows he must avoid getting into a war with the USA, but never lay down to them, he knows that sooner rather than later it’s all got to start to collapse, so he’ll avoid war and let them crumble. After all, Russia had to start again, and they didn’t force it to war, (after getting an agreement that NATO would never encroach further towards Russia, they allowed it all to collapse). But the US know that’s what he’s doing, so we’ve seen them provoke and provoke Russia, they’ve non-stop encroached further and further towards Russia’s borders, using NATO’s ridiculous excuse of protecting the Baltic’s from Russian aggression. We’ve witnessed Putin, four times, seriously, and clearly warn them to stop this nonsense, and the US have purposely ignored him every time, because they don’t want compromise, they don’t want talks, and they don’t want peace, no, they must have war (to remove Russia’s nuclear threat), force in a single world currency, or they’re finished, and they will collapse. And collapse to the extent it will see a break-up of the Union and a separation of the States. This is what no one wants to admit. Yet, you only need to understand, that for all Western governments, and the mainstream media, to be following the same scripted lies? (unprecedented in history), we simply must know the reason is huge! It is! After reading this, you can go back and look at everything that has happened leading up to now?, and you’ll now understand all of it. Things that made no sense at the time, and things you never really understood, now become very clear, and it becomes obvious exactly what the US are really doing, and you’ll now know WHY they're doing this. Only then?, well then, you’ll also realize the US will never stop, because they can’t, or they’re bankrupt to the point of complete collapse. This is what's facing us all, right now, as we speak. I mean, anyone, please do tell me I'm wrong? I'd love to be wrong! Only the problem you have now, is, you actually can't tell me I'm wrong, because this makes much more sense than anything you've ever heard coming from any of our criminal governments! But now, doesn't the whole picture become as clear as day?
@hotstepper887

Could we also not start believing this? To carry out what you've just read above, (the USA needing a single world currency to avoid complete collapse) saw the USA government needing the use of their military without needing congressional approval, otherwise, their idea/plan of a single world currency, would be dead in the water. Well, actually, 9/11 answers that question. And this is how they did that... The American government's plan, all along with 9/11, was to create fear across the USA, making the American people feel very insecure, and then asking the American people to allow them to change parts of the American Constitution, so they could start their "War on Terror" It worked, and the American people allowed the change in the constitution, allowing them to go to war without congressional approval, thus allowing them to attack any country on earth with their fake ''war on terror'' (should be renamed "War of Terror"). The USA's CIA, also created Al-Qaeda, and later, ISIS. This is how the USA managed to carry out 9/11, the CIA creates many of the world's terrorist groups, and it's actually pretty obvious how they do it. The CIA embedded themselves in countries across the world through the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. They got to understand the Muslim's mentality, and their real beliefs, while also making friends with many known terrorist suspects over the years. This led to the CIA arming Bin Laden, in the Afghan-Soviet war. After that war, the CIA recruited Bin Laden into their ranks, (to be used as the ''Convincer'') to all the jihadists, who would hear and see him telling them to form a jihad against the USA. The CIA then set out recruiting jihadist's all over the world, (as part of Bin Laden's group), getting all their recruited jihadists together, & having them all believe they're fighting for Islam, and fighting for their own State/Caliph, and for their fake extremist leader, Bin Laden, (really CIA). None of the jihadists had any idea that they were really being recruited and used by the CIA, they all believed they were fighting a jihad for a Caliph, for Bin Laden, and for Islam. So if ever captured, they'd never be able to give the USA away, as they had no idea. When those groups grew, and when the CIA had got full control? They had to silence Bin Laden, (as any mention of it to the wrong person), could well get the wrong people asking questions, and that could lead to the discovery of what was really going on. They couldn't risk everything they'd managed to achieve, so they killed Bin Laden in the mid-late 90s, this allowed them to keep him going, as if alive, but nobody ever saw him again after 1997. Over the next 4 years, (leading up to 9/11), we would get video footage he'd put together, (while in the CIA), of him announcing a jihad against the USA. It was those videos that kept the world, especially the jihadists, and especially the American people, believing he was a mastermind terrorist in a safe house somewhere, (while in all truth, he'd been dead well over a year). The CIA then had the perfect storm, they had a dead man they could blame, they had a dead man who was known to commit terrorist acts in countries across the world, and a dead man that jihadists would obey and follow, (that gave the CIA full control). Plus, a dead man they could use as the reason they invaded country after country, ''looking for him''?. And these groups don't even know they're being recruited and used by the CIA, they've no idea at all. Bin Laden was dead, but only the USA knew that. All the jihadists believed they were fighting a jihad against the USA, at the word of their leader, Bin Laden (must keep remembering that, because it still applies). That allowed the US to carry out 9/11, and many terrorist attacks around the world since (hard to believe, I know), but it not only fits, but it makes perfect sense in all we see today!! The killing of the (so-called Bin Laden), was obviously something that had to happen, they'd used that excuse to its max. So in a prearranged fake plan, we saw the USA attack that (so-called Bin Laden campus), that was right next door to a fully operational Pakistani military base. And we're supposed to believe that nobody heard anything? Not even the USA crashing a top-secret, multi-million dollar helicopter?, as they ''supposedly'' carried out a special forces raid (on an old bearded man), who the CIA had dragged in from Guantánamo Bay as the scapegoat for the already long dead Bin Laden an hour or so before this farcical affair? And then came the obvious lies, lies that obviously had to come... Lies that surely show everybody the truth? The USA would not let anyone get near to the so-called Bin Laden's body, or to publish any photos, other than one picture, that was instantly proven to be fake! Now, ask yourself why would the USA not want the entire world to see, and have proven to them, that this so-called Bin Laden, was dead, and indeed, that was him?, and not some poor sod, shipped in from Guantánamo Bay as the scapegoat fake Bin Laden? The USA's reasoning not to allow anyone to test this so-called Bin Laden's DNA? (surely alarm bells are screaming)?, or to allow anyone to even get close to the body?, seems to show us all, this is only more lies and deceit from the criminal US government. But what it should have done is really made every American very suspicious, as this is such an obvious lie? Yet it didn't, It basically became accepted, because no one could prove otherwise! The body was taken away within hours, and buried at sea, (with the USA's pitiful excuse, it was done, to prevent his grave from becoming a site of martyrs). Oh sure?, more like it was done to stop anyone from trying to get this dead man's DNA?. The USA invaded so many countries across the world for at least 12 years after 9/11, while killing millions of Innocent people from many countries around the world, and all while using the search for Bin Laden as their excuse!. It's so obviously a lie! Today, it's Abu Al Baghdadi (CIA), and so it goes on, to where we are today, and still, the terrorist, the jihadist, ISIS, has no Idea they're mere cannon fodder for the USA's CIA. They still believe, (like Al-Qaeda did), that they're fighting against the USA, Syria, Russia, Iran and Iraq, for their Caliph, for Islam, and for their fake extremist leader Abu Al Baghdadi, really (CIA). I know the USA claim they killed him, (and probably have), like Bin Laden was killed long before 9/11 even happened. - It will be Al Baghdadi the 59th next, after all, they must have claimed to have killed him at least 58 times before? LMAO. I mean, again, anyone, tell me this is wrong? Only AGAIN, the problem you now have is, you actually can't tell me I'm wrong, because, again, this actually makes much more sense, than anything you've ever heard coming from any government?

Europa muss zusammenstehen.

@@bavros1998 The Duran folge ich auch. Und Clare und Mick sind mir sehr bekannt. Europa muss aufwachen, die USA machen alles kaputt, sie sind die grösste hindernis für Frieden.

Jeffrey Sachs gives the most comprehensive yet concise summary of the background to this unnecessary and tragic conflict, and of the prospects for peace from here. All the more valuable given the unprecedented censorship and propaganda prevalent in the English-speaking world.

I was riveted by Professor Sachs’ excellent and clear analysis. Unfortunately the mainstream media have a stranglehold on the reporting of the war in Ukraine. I am surrounded by otherwise intelligent people who quote from the BBC, Times etc. as if they’re gospel! 🙄

I miss the actual situation when mr. Jakob de Jonge of the Hague Peace Projects could be in this video, and asks his questions. So mr. Jacob de Jonge: show yourself, when asking these questions to prof. Sachs. Furthermore: a very good video & attribution. 15 Sept. 2023.
