very nice well done demonstration of ballasting. i never would of thought to weather the rails with the brown krylon paint. I will have to do that as well. I like all those yard staging tracks. Nice post

The way this guy did it looks great, he,s got a big layout, you have to make sure the rails are clean, I think what I would do is once everything is dry take a straight edge or something stable and short with a light abarsive paper or pad, and very gentley polish, not polish🌭🌭🌭the top of the rails Wich will leave them sparkling gleemi g Wich is the way they look in full scale real railroad life advousley you gotta be careful!! You don't want an accedent!!, there you have it.. thank you thank you thank you .😁😁😂🤣😃😅

Awesome video Josh. I have not been able to watch for a while, I was deployed for a bit so I am playing catch up. I have always enjoyed watching your videos and your last few recent updates. I have a few questions, first off, do you have a longer tutorial somewhere with commentary or step by step. I am just curious because it appears that you have several layers of different colors of ballast, I am wondering why and I know it was quick but did you glue after each layer or did you lay everything then just saturate it all with the water/glue mixture. I saw you had something in a spray bottle toward the end, what mixture did you have in there? Most importantly, how long in real time did this actually take?
@richardfinlayson32423 жыл бұрын
A little late to the game on viewing this. Very nice! I can't search the comments so apologies if already covered. What color of brown Krylon, I did a few freeze frames and I can see it is satin... what is the color name? Also, what's the glue/water mix, and what were you spraying in the spray bottle? Great vid, thanks for the inspiration! (I'm about to paint an ballast my yard...)

Cool video. Can't wait to start scenery on my layout. How do you keep your turnouts from getting glued in one position?
@nsmodeler246 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I try to not get any glue in between the 2 ties with the switch rod, which helps, but some always gets in anyways. If you return and throw the switch 2-3 times over the next 24 hours, it also keeps the glue from sticking. After everything is dry, I still sand off the glue residue from the rails and the contact points.

I'm kind of jealous of you watching your video. I live with parents so I will never have space to build at least a small layout 😔😔.

Did you clean your track with Goo? Haven’t seen that one before!
@nsmodeler246 жыл бұрын
We clean the track with a woodland scenics polishing block. My dad an I differ on this next step, but I usually clean track with a cloth dampened with Goo and then pass over the track a few more times with a dry cloth to make sure it removes everything completely. It seems to work well though!

Brett Hill Water spray about 8 ounces of water and two pumps of hand soap. Glue is 1/2 water and 1/2 premium wood glue. Make sure water is "hot" when you mix it.
