Thanks for the video, a good reminder for me to start taking some more regular photos of my early bonsai attempts in the hope that one day I could develop one into something special.

The carving part of this would be the most intimidating for most folk I think. It's a testament to your skill - well done.

fantastic video, brilliant to see the photos over the years and the progress. these are the kinda videos i love to watch being still new (2 years in) to my bonsai journey and a lot more than helpful than a video showing everything done to a tree in a few hours. as you say Corin.....time !

Such a great tree. Moss is out of the question here in the southwestern united states. I am not up in the mountains, but in the desert valley.

Hey Corin, great seeing you again. This is Steve from MABS in USA. Still love the Mame pot you gave me. Had to go back and watch all your vids. They're really good. Love that red maple in the blue pot, striking contrast. You don't protect the trees for the Winter? Is the hair for the Winter or all year round? You're looking good. Take care and i hope you and your family stay happy and healthy. Steve.

HI Steve, good to hear from you, we are hoping to release a new vid each Sunday for the next few weeks, so keep an eye out. Yes in Uk, the winters are milder, so outdoor trees are fine just left outside. Hair keeps the cold off. Take care,, Corin

Thanks! I recently picked up a 12" dia. Kousa Dogwood stump from the side of the road. It is ugly as heck, but I see potential in a few year's time, just like yours, hopefully. :)

Hello and thanks for a great video. It is great to see the progress of work performed by a top artist. If I may, I have one question. Is it legitimate to cover the scars with paint? I mean a perfect imitation of bark on milled wood. Thank you very much and I wish you much success.

Thank you, is Manchurian elm the same as Siberian ?

Beautiful tree. My only complaint is the branches being all horizontal below the apex make it look like a bonsai and not a convincing tree. I would want the bottom most branches horizontal and slightly and progressively ascending to the apex.

There is no Siberian elm that gets that big of a truck in nature sadly. Proportionally i mean. At least not where I live. Most are tall and skinny informal upright or broom

More negative space would age this design and make it look so much better in my opinion.

Clearly a lot of care and development has gone into the development of this tree and I’m sure it has a great many admirers. These exaggerated broad, squat trees are not to my personal taste aesthetically - that is not to take away anything from your skill and expertise. It (and similar trees) look too conical and unnatural or cartoonish for me and I cannot see this scaled up looking like a natural tree. It looks too much like something from a fantasy film than the native woodland.
@corintomlinson66873 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Jason, I'm fortunate to have many bonsai, representing all different styles, and everyone interprets art forms differently. Other wise it would be boring. Bonsai isn't always about copying nature explicitly, but interpreting it personally and artistically.
