I will say for as much as I give shit to Oda for only going halfway with deaths and never making any death permanent even when it's explicitly stated that morning when characters were killed by the straw hats like the time where it was explicitly said by smoker to tashigi that zoro had literally killed mr1 only for mr1 to pop back up during impel down with just a scar, I will at least acknowledge that a lot of the censoring on that front was because of the was the issue of just the animators still seeing the show as a kids show even though the source material is literally based on slavery, murder, racism, and literally all of the bad shit under the sun related to human depravity and malice

Okay, it's been 16 years. Move the f*** on. And it's not fair to blame 4kids. The Japanese studios accidently packaged One Piece to 4kids and because 4kids paid for it, they had to make the money back. They actually never wanted One Piece but had to make it while stuck with their guidelines that just didn't work.
