The thing I really like about scientific / Academic research is that you 'find what you find'. It is the process of noticing, and building on what you already know, to try to better understand. But the key is to go back to 'what you already know', and see if it still makes sense - it is actually that part of the process that builds knowledge. Wonderful episode, I learnt way more here than when 'lifting the turf and finding a villa!'

Yes. To some extent. Gobekli Tepe and the Tarim Basin “mummies” upset MANY an archeological apple cart. The original Harrapan Culture (Indus River Valley) theory of Matriarchy took a massive hit, but you will have to look hard to find the “documented” statements saying such...

Found this again about a year after my last comment, that bit in the pub, Not round not straight but wiggly, always makes me laugh. Something struck me whilst watching this. I learned a couple of things watching time team not related to archaeology. One, find your 'thing', your passion, and what you're good at, don't look at how fat your wallet will get, that should be further down your list of reasons to do something, And 2, teamwork, working with other people to reach a goal, it's shouldn't be about competition, that "I make more money/sell more than you do" attitude doesn't help anything.
