Timing is everything. We have the pleasure and privilege of having former Olympian and Women's National Team coach Mariann Domonkos join us for a session of one of the most important aspect of the game: timing. What she will explain a concept of timing that will apply for any level, and believe me, you will want to keep in your game for years to come.

For me this was a very good reminder. Because I actually knew already that my timing isn't the best, often when I am hungry for the ball as she mentioned OR when i'm too insecure (too late). It was good to hear it from somebody who knows and emphazises it. I had moments where I struck the ball so well, and even if it wasn't on i knew it was a good stroke. Now I will remember why, because this is the basics before everything - Thanks for sharing! Very helpful if you don't have a coach.

This is an amazing lesson by an amazing teacher. Thank you Ottawa Table Tennis Club for sharing this with the world. Some people will understand how much insight is presented here, and some will not, maybe because of the simplicity of its exposition. But, nonetheless, nothing can take away from its elegance which stands out against the debris of modernity. The latter is a liberal quote from Boogie Woogie (the film) :-) Having said all of that, the people arriving or getting dressed in the background is the most annoying thing I've seen in a while.

I need to improve my timing and will try to implement these suggestions. Thank you very much for this presentation.

This lecture is great! The presentation describes extremely important and advanced concepts. Too many people worry about technique which is very important for beginners, but advanced players do not require technical lessons, maybe they will need tweaks though. Also to be clear, this is not coaching, this is teaching in a class.

She mentioned a great player who waited on a ball, and then struck it. Oscar Wegner, a great tennis coach, describes timing as waiting on the ball so much it hurts, then striking the ball before it goes by you. She called this striking the ball at the beginning of the movement. Both are talking about the same thing.

Most player have enough to get good. It is all about discipline and proper training. There is a difference between the practice most of the players do and proper systematic training. Talent only matter at top level or how fast your learn the beginning. But most people could learn to get a pretty high level by simply practicing properly a lot.

So match words don't help..Essential points to practise any sport are; 1)Ability to that kind of sport 2)Suitable athletic and menthal conditions 3)Time and necessary finantial supports 4)A substantial club and a good coaching 5)Family support..

Talent is a myth. You dont see the work that they put behind something. No person can follow a player through their life to measure their path and compare it to another player. When you get branded as a talent, the support apparatus will make you talented. The bedrock of every player is safety and self-confidence, which is given to the player by their parents. A trainer I met only once called me talented because I had only played for some months, but this trainer had no insight into how much I had played for those months. Similarly, me putting out a lot of videos on my training on youtube serves to lessen this charismatic appeal of an unknown player suddenly becoming good, because I am showing how much work is behind it. Human beings are not very well suited to grasp the accumulated entity of time.
