Ever wondered what it's like to train with the elite forces stationed right on the front lines? Join me as I head to Estonia, where the reality of today’s geopolitical tensions is palpable. We’re diving headfirst into some hardcore training sessions with the pros who stand guard over their nation, ready to face any threat. It’s not just about physical readiness; it’s about mental resilience, strategy, and brotherhood. We’re getting a rare glimpse into what it takes to keep a country safe.

As a Finn 🇫🇮 (neighbour to Estonia) this was super interesting to watch. Estonia (like Finland) has always been in a unique geopolitical position where it has to adapt its capabilities to the reality of sharing a border with an Empire hungry for power and control. Also an extremely beautiful country despite the clear mark that communism has left on the country.

I lived and worked over a five year period in Tallinn as well Moscow. Here are my thoughts on this video. Refering to the Russians as Communists is absurd. 1944 was the last year that the Communists (Soviets) invaded Estonia. I was living in Tallinn when the former Soviet Army was still there and very slowly packing up (occassionally taking the copper telephone lines that went over the base causing my cottage to loose telephone service). I think ethnic Estonians would find you repetedly calling them Eastern European to be offensive. Northern European, Finnic or even Scandinavian is more accurate ethnically. The Estonian Army is not large enough to ever oppose the Russian Armed Forces for more than one or two days in the same way that the Danes or Dutch forces did against the Germans in 1940. There are simply not enough Estonians to defend against invasion. This is not about bravery or determination it is simply a mathematical fact. While you were driving in Tallinn to your training, you passed an impressive building with a spire topped with a Soviet star. This was the Soviet Naval HQ in the old days. I have been accross the border at Narva dozens of times. Once I obtained a special Russian visa to visit the 15th century Russian Ivangorod Fortress at and viewed the 13th century Danish built Hermann Castle on the Estonian side from the oppossing side of the Narva River. In more friendly times this border crossing could be tense, dangerous and time consuming because of active drug, people and weapon smuggling as well as a gang war on the Estonian side over the control of the used car trade from Europe to Russia in the mid 1990’s. It seems much worse today.
@erickbaka
@erickbaka 13 күн бұрын
You're mistaken on the ability to resist invasion though. You need 3:1 superiority in numbers to have a meaningful attack, Estonia right now has a wartime structure of around 39K fully equipped and regularly re-trained soldiers and reservists ready to react on a day's notice, backed up by another 80K reservists who have gone through the mandatory military service. This all adds up to a healthy force of 120K. Russia would mathematically need around 360K troops to stand a chance at success, which is almost twice the size of the force they could muster to attack Ukraine. Additionally, Estonian border with Russia has only 2 rather limited land bridges on either side of the huge lake Peipus, while Ukraine had a completely open front. And even more additionally, there are thousands of NATO troops from UK, France, and Italy stationed in Estonia, so an attack on Estonia would be an actual attack on the soldiers of those countries.
@davidpritchard604

@erickbaka One EMP placed equidistance between Tallinn and Tartu would neutralize most of Estonias weaponry. Warfare is changing quickly, so using old numerical axioms is pointless.

@@davidpritchard604 this not the 50s anymore, mission-critical electronics are shielded from EMI and there are built-in surge protectors and breakers. Leaving that aside for a moment - how does an EMP neutralize 120K soldiers with handguns and anti-tank weaponry like the Carl Gustaf? Leaving even that aside - when Russians invaded Ukraine they relied on UKRAINIAN cell towers for communication! Maybe there's a reason they don't use it in Ukraine?

From Estonia here. I know its not political video here but, this entire situation with war in Ukraine and relations with Russia kind of grinds my gears when i see what certain... groups of people in US think about it! Most common thing i hear is: ''US is meddling in other nations business, doing backdoor deals and thats why Russia had no choice but to invade!'' 2nd one is this infamous ''NATO expansion!'' Do they honestly think that all of these small nations here in eastern europe begged, borrowed and licked some boots to join NATO so the US could ''expand''. Im sure it had nothing to do with constant threats coming out of Kremlin! Sorry to say it but, your avarage american has no clue! Theres a lot of history and bad blood going on around here when it comes to Russia. That includes Ukraine. Americans like to think that, its all about them while in reality it has very little to do with America!

1. The CIA overthrew a Democratically elected Ukranian President in 2014, and the Victoria Nuland hand-picked the government of Ukraine. 2. When the USA overrides the voice of the people in Ukraine, and then says "Ukraine is going to be in NATO!", the USA PURPOSELY used the people of Ukraine as sacrificial bait to Russia, which has said for 30 years that Ukraine joining NATO is unacceptable, as that would put missiles 300 miles from Moscow. The USA did this, not Russia. 3. You are either lying about who you are, or lying about the history of Russia w Estonia/Ukraine/NATO

As a Russian citizen who's against the war please let me tell you a few words. First, putin is stuck in Ukraine for so much and for so long. Open the second front is a disaster, and even him, with his narrow mind, realises this. As for war in Ukraine, reality shows us that special forces as a link of military chain could be as tough as possible, but it won't help, because in the full scale war an average professionalism of average soldier is more important.

I'm gonna ask you to STOP using the term "Eastern Europe" it is an insult to all of the countries that you - westerners and also moscowites are lebaling as such!!! There is NOTHING Eastern there, especially, ESPECIALLY in Estonia!!!

You have no understanding of the situation here. It is unbeliveably absurd in this day and age to refer to Russia as communist. There is nothing communistic about the country. The oligarchy (and dictatorship) is a product of capitalist shock therapy after the Soviet collapse and western incompetence in relation to reintegrating the country. As an Estonian, I hate sharing a border with Russia and also the reality of being a means for US imperialist ends. Both sides are excruciatingly ignorant.

The most hilarious thing about this video is that Russia isn't even remotely communist😂 Communism died the day Vladimir Putin became president of Russia. Russia today is very capitalistic. Now North Korea is definitely communist but not Russia.

😂 no Russia is not even close to capitalist … all their innovation comes from the govt … & their govt controls the economy … they are unable to be pure communists just like China because as seen in Cuba communism guarantees a failed economy … despite china & russias hybrid models they still fail & their people still suffer & can’t invest in anything let alone leave their money in the bank…

There are 15 times more russian babushkas than Estonians. Or, in other words: Estonia 1.3 million citizens, Russia 150 million. Good luck. 🎉

It's amazing how at this point in time you still think that Russia is the bag guys and not the corrupt Ukrainian government. You must be intentionally trying to know the truth or willfully ignoring it.
