Everyone knows Cancun as the ultimate paradise destination with its white beaches and
5-star hotels. However, there is a barrio (neighborhood) called Villas Otoch Paraiso that is literally the most violent and dangerous place in Cancun. They say there isn't a day that goes by when you don't hear gunshots or police and ambulance sirens.
It's not that I don't trust what the media says about this area of Cancun.
It's that I always feel like I want to see what such a place looks like during the day and what the locals have to say!!
So I decided to take the risk and go to Villas Otoch Paraiso!
Let's gooo!!

Born and raised in North Carolina. I’m a convicted felon that has never spent a day in prison. I say that to say that NC is lenient af when it comes to sentencing. Murderers regularly get less than 20 years here. 15 years is a SERIOUS crime, and what he described would never warrant that time. He either killed his daughter or is lying about the whole situation and did something completely different. Be safe Tim

I live in NC but know nothing about sentencing norms. Looking at his body language and story inconsistencies, he did time for something else. Maybe he killed his daughter accidentally (probably less time, though), or they went back to his apartment and found a serious stash of drugs. 15 years + deportation sounds like a plea agreement..

True. No matter how good loving our intentions are, it may mean nothing there. It's completely different values than ones we are used to. Our world and theirs are like night and day. They don't come to ours and we don't go to theirs. That's the mutual unsaid understanding we share. Things like this may lead conflict. Folks from both sides may lose lives unnecessarily.

Tim you got a good heart but you’re young and naïve in the USA no one goes to prison because they didn’t call an ambulance, here’s what I think the guy had a fight with his wife somehow the little girl gets hurt maybe he pushed her by accident he takes her to the hospital she dies he gets 15 . she divorces him and just before he gets out after 15 years she brings the daughter to see him because he’s going to get deported and she’ll never see him again. But don’t be naïve he got 15 years because he had something to do with the death of his daughter which thankfully they considered an accident otherwise he’ll be inthere for life.

That's what Cancun looks like almost everywhere once you leave the touristy areas. My father lives in Cancun and all the houses look like that almost everywhere. I've always said Cancun looks ugly once you get to the real Cancun. It doesn't have the charm that other older cities of Mexico have. It doesn't have that nice layout. It's literally a city that was slapped together and grew so quickly due to the tourism that started developing. People from all over Mexico ended up in Cancun looking for work and they started to eventually just build all these little tiny homes and communities.

Mexican guy : yeahhh well... she was at work at that moment / time or day i dunno man... it is like me telling you : Yo man... listen up ! i had jumped of a 6 story telling building trying to save a Cat that jumps of the roof... it was like crazy br0 ! for real... i catch the cat mid air and when we landed on the roof we went straight trough it and killed the old lady who was just watching tv ow and the cat also died... they gave me 25 years man trying to save the Cat and that i did not call a ambulance... This looks more like paying the victim Card... because why would they charge you when you drive your daughter choking to the hospital to save her life ? that is such a weird story... absolutely 0 empathy from the judge or jury what so ever... just because your Mexican and that is the reason. everyone hates you because your not American after something like this horrible happens they will give you 15 years just like that. Nou that sounds like some true HOOOORSE SJIIIIIIIIIIIT to me booooooooy that evening : ajajajajaa that gringo ! he believed the 15 year old story AJAJAJAJAJAJAAAA guns shooting in the air drinking Tequila shitty situation : so they could have let you go to mexico but in stead hold the Mexican guy for 15 years witch cost allot for any American citizen and in that process they know for sure breaking up the family and destroy everything he has that he is so depressed ( The guy wanted to kill him self for god sake ) they know for sure he would be happy to be free even moving back to Mexico... so that must have been the main reason rather just deport him back straight away. was it bad in prison ? Mexican was like owww nooo nonono the air was nice and the men oee laa laa it was like a walk in the Park in the weekend. i would be probably dead the moment he told me that story, hahahahaa funny joke the Mexican guy would have say'd : here eat some free lead Puto Live long and prosper,

It's bad because people are in poor economic conditions, so there's a number of them who will resort to crime. It is not the police not doing their job, but that does worsen the issue. I grew up in a neighborhood where most people don't suffer economically, so I haven't seen a crime or anything crazy there for 11 years. It isn't safe because of the police, the police have easy jobs there because few residents feel the need to commit crimes out of necessity.

@@SoWellDunn just remember that 90% of the world is afraid of their own shadow. I grew up in a terrible neighborhood in Detroit where people are being shot and killed everyday and overdosing on the front lawn. And I will tell you that everybody would say not to go to that neighborhood, everybody would say that's a dangerous neighborhood. It's just like Chicago, everybody I talk to is afraid to go to the outskirts of Chicago especially at night, Tampa, Miami. But yet I've been to all those areas. All the areas that people say are dangerous, don't go there. I've been to all of them. Obviously most importantly you have to have wits about yourself. So just because somebody is afraid to go to a neighborhood doesn't mean it's a bad neighborhood. I mean I know so many people in the United States who are afraid to go to Cancun Mexico because they think they're going to get kidnapped and robbed. Come on. If you let people's fear dictate your life then you might as well not travel anywhere. You might as well stay in the house and not leave.

I love the Greeks and Greek language! I spent a month in 1995 wandering all over Greece. I’d learned the alphabet and phonetics before I went so that I could catch buses and read signs/ etc. in 1995! Much less was in English then AND it was the best time, we could still walk in the acropolis! Delfi! All the places with ancient temples and ruins. Not the same today, I’m so glad I spent that time, years ago in your country! I might hop over to Greece for a few days in March when I go to travel with my 21 yr old. We are gonna “wander” in Italy! I don’t care how tough you are … but when a bunch of masked up men hop off a pick up truck with automatic guns while you’re strolling, or driving in a foreign country (Their Back Yard) it will make anyone crumble. Stay in groups of 2 or more. Like I said I’ve seen way too much crime here. Keep in mind the average Mexican only earn on average of $10USD a day! That’s 140 pesos. It is still a very poor country.

What's up from Raleigh NC. Wish I knew the rest of that guys story or his name to look it up. I've only been here 10 years so never heard about it. I stumbled onto your videos and now I'm hooked. Keep doing what your doing.

Because its a bullcrap story. He said he was in prison in Raleigh but not that he lived there. He said it hapened 2003/ 2004 I dont see anything in NC about a 15 year sentence on someone for daughters death. I dont know if the whole damn story was a lie just to get sympathy or if he is lying about his daughter choking all I know is he is lying.

I live close to Raleigh, North Carolina. I almost certainly believe the guy was playing you as a narcissistic victim of injustice .minorities in the USA are frequently released with a slap on the wrist and the shortest amount of prison time because of overcrowded prisons.if he had spent 15 years in prison ,it was without a doubt a very serious offense and probably a fraction of what the law requires. He was also deported because he was illegal immigrant but only because he committed a felony. That's the laws.

What?? Minorities are treated like garbage in the US legal system.
@dalesplanes

@@burnerforpremium you're somewhat right due to poverty just as the white poor can't afford quality attorneys. So what's the difference?.currently we are being flooded by illegal immigrants. Over 5 million in less than two years of every nationality.I suppose they're coming to be abused by the justice system while being housed and fed by taxpayers until they settle. I have many minority friends who agree .it's no more than democrat propaganda making the minorities feel like victims so they will vote democratic.

His story about his daughter, and the baby he left alone did not make sense. No lawyer would tell him (an English speaker) that there is no hope because he is Mexican. There is something else in that story

He killed his daughter bro lol. Can tell the lying by his body language and speech. You don’t get deported for or even arrested for doing those things lol. It’s not a law to call an ambulance.

@@arnaudcabrera1548 If you really listen you can see it’s very likely not the truth he is telling.. he says many times “when I got caught” which implies he did something illegal.. honestly probably his daughter really died from choking but that wasn’t the reason he went to prison. He couldn’t even really tell details about it and it sounded very made up but who knows, maybe it’s true

magidog 11 hours ago (edited) 13.45 When he says"when I got caught"nothing else needs said, other than the only reason why he was"arrested 9 days later"he ran from the hospital..........He took his daughter to hospital after she died, and split before the police showed up,they("caught") found him 9 days later.......SIMPLE....A judge would never say, because you are Mexican, never. The case would have been thrown out for being prejudice.......Timmy stop being so gulable ,think ,before you do get hurt, more than just your feelings, and don't judge US because of this guys lie, insinuating he was treated unfair because of color ,that didn't happen..really not cool.why didn't he have his citizenship? He was there long enough to have it,and a 16 yr.old can't visit prison without an adult,if the mother brought her they both need US I.D. so what was it,leagal or ill-leagal family? The story has holes all over it,and this Timmy guy is WOW,,,,,dumb.100 bucks this is deleted.....

While i do love his fun & positive energy, but it does seem like he can be pretty naive. I have noticed in many videos where people look annoyed w/ him and / or are uncomfortable when he touches them like they're already best buds I'm sure he has great intentions, but going around to residents saying "i heard this place is so dangerous but look it's great" (after tons of locals told him how dangerous it is), is a little insensitive and invalidates their experience of growing up there. Videos like this can come across a bit like emotional tourism...
