Yessss! I printed out a picture of my kids onto canvas and I guess I made it too close up. It came pixelated. Like their long hair or the trees are all messed up. :( So I am going to try this to kind of "cover" up the pixelated parts!

I've been painting over my photo prints on canvas and I really love the process. I can match color very easily. My question is, do you think this is cheating by saying it's a painting? I'm an art school grad and I can paint on a blank canvas but find this way much more fun. I cover the whole thing with paint. I guess I use the image under it as a guide.

Wow, this answered a number of questions I had. I do have another question though that I cannot find an answer to, but maybe you will know. If I am doing the process as you describe here, could I add gold leaf to parts of the painting? Would I use a water based medium to apply the gold leaf? Would it corrode the print quality over time? Also also where do you get your giclee prints done?

I know this is an older video - but I"m still finding this video quite helpful. :) If you get this comment - can you suggest a company you trust for doing giclee prints? I have a few pieces I'd like to consider, but feel overwhelmed and don't want to get ripped off when I look online.

Can you mix the gel gloss with oil paints?

For the final step of putting a varnish on, do you use the Krylon spray and do you use gloss finish???

If my original was done with oils, and I’m using acrylics to embellish, it seems like it would be hard to match the colors? Is there a way to use oils for the embellishing? Or a formula to help match the acrylic colors with the oil colors I used in the originals?

I am not an artist by any means. That being said I acquired a very large canvas painting, and I've searched the internet far and wide and cannot find a copy of it anywhere. It's not aged at all, and it's not completely smooth. Are giclee prints flat or can you feel that texture? It also has areas of gold that are reflective. I'm just curious if this is an original or a print. I can email you pictures if you think you can help me out. Thanks

Don't you worry about people in the future trying to pass off your giclees as an original? It may not happen in your lifetime, but it may happen, unless you mark them clearly as "not an original.".
