hi nick.gorgeous guitar dude.vintage guitars have become very popular with the gigging musician here in ireland.my drummer works part time in a music store that stocks them and i have to say they're a great guitar for the money.the higher end stuff is stunning and alot of guys are buying these as an alternative to gibsons or using them as a back up to their gibsons.michael kelly guitars are really making a mark here too.really great quality at affordable prices.

That's awesome to hear about the MK's there. I love those damn guitars. Had I not somehow added a bunch of teles to the collection this year I'd have bought a 1955 by now. Perhaps soon!

Hey, Nick. Have you seen the Vintage "Summer of Love" strat? I go back and forth on getting one. It has one of the most beautiful strat tones I've ever heard. I'm just afraid I wont like the neck or something. Check it out if you have the chance. Great video, man.
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
I saw that recently... I really like it. Have you seen their "the fool" SG? it's a bit over the top but also super cool.

I had to look it up. Haha...that thing is kinda crazy looking. Still, I'd play it in public! lol

Thanks man! Those Fret Kings are super cool. I chatted with the US distributor of them a while back. Nice guy. If I can score one to at least demo I definitely will. I'll check out Dave Barlow, thanks!

is it better than epiphone's les paul?

I think so. Better built and fit and finish. Pickups are probably a push... but having the push pull taps on the Epiphones are a nice touch.

Hi, vintage V100 afd or Harley Benton SC-550 paradise, with one You prefer to buy?
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
Probably the Vintage. They seem to be more consistent. My 550 Paradise did have epic pickups though... I just didn't like the finish on my particular one.

How does it stack up to an Agile? I have had the black beauty, three pickup LP in my checkout basket more times than I can count (big Frampton fan)
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's better than all but perhaps the top top. Better than my AL2000 and AL3010SE but a fair measure. And I like this shape better.
@hafl43644 жыл бұрын
Why is this not showing "Paradise" near the nut? And the flamed top has just a few veneers :(
@pacovl464 жыл бұрын
Well, you didn’t really expect a full sized triple A flamed maple cap for 300 bucks, did you? On a Gibson, a proper flame top will cost you around a thousand bucks on top of the prize of a solid colored guitar.
@TheDunateen777 жыл бұрын
is someone out of key?time or tune? these are great guitars nonetheless
@jcoulter437 жыл бұрын
Nick, you should buy a fake 'stache and Imperial just to stick on now and again to mess with us ;-) I like the Vintage V100. Not in love with the headstock shape (spoiled by the Edwards you are holding next to it), but looks like a solid choice for a LP copy on the inexpensive (notice I DID NOT say cheap, Ha ha!) side.
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
LOL exactly... still not cheap by any means but the Harley Bentons have ruined my gear to the dollar/pound/euro scale.
@jcoulter437 жыл бұрын
Cheap to me is under a grand as I don't buy new stuff but about once a year. I know what you mean by being spoiled by the dollar/pound/euro scale with these decent quality alternatives to the bigger manufacturers. My first Agile I mentioned from a few years back was $600 but on par with my '96 LP Standard.
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
That must have been a helluva Agile. But their good ones are pretty damn sweet. I'm not sure if their new ones have fallen off or I've just had bad luck.
@jcoulter437 жыл бұрын
I think probably a little of both. The one I got I think was a beautiful example of S. Korean craftsmanship. I am VERY picky about all the little details on a guitar and my Agile is on par with my '96 LP Standard. The Agile has a killer flame top and makes a nice matched set with my Dean '79 V. They look like they were painted at the same time. I've heard some bad things about the recent Agiles. I'll have to share some pics with you sometime.

I grew it that way for Movember... so as a ritual on December 1st I shave it off. Plus my wife hates it and my VP here at work has repeatedly stated that he can't take me seriously with it. It's more of a surprise that he can take me seriously at all!

I keep looking to buy a cheap version of a Les Paul Gibson I should really look at buying the real one. But I really don't want to spend $2000 - $3000 on a guitar.
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
I recently bought a 2015 Les Paul Traditional for $1000 new. That's not a bad price. But I hear you, most of the time it's 2000 to 3000... that's nuts.
@nicholascremato7 жыл бұрын
I just bought a 2011 Gibson les paul traditional plus for 1500 used but I thought I was robbed, because it had a 2 piece body. I later found out that Gibson does produce two and three piece bodies until you get into the customs. Phew!

Tuning/intonation problems.
@NickintheStates7 жыл бұрын
I think it's the intonation that's off and causing me not to like the tones. I have to test it a bit when I get home tonight. Feel silly for not catching it sooner but it would explain what I thought was off with the pickups.
@okioki11317 жыл бұрын
I don't think the guitar on the right is intonated

Cody, you're a genius. You're quite right and that's what's been sounding wrong with this guitar the entire time. I feel dumb for not even checking.
