Gosh, at least I won't get too drunk on all those virtual beers you have left behind the bar for me 😊. I'm lucky to be able to call this my local heritage railway, the staff and volunteers have done a great job to keep the railway open throughout much of the lock-down period. The old diesels sound so much more relaxed than their modern high revving replacements. I enjoyed a pint of beer in a pub at lunchtime for the first time in almost two years. Take care. Tim.

Hello Keith, to the Mid Hant's credit they saw Covid as challenge to be overcome, they ran services throughout most of the lock-down period, observing the strict personal hygiene guidelines required, they adapted the rolling stock with very neat, yet discrete partitions. The much altered service patterns enabled both individuals and groups to travel in designated trains. The easing of restrictions has allowed a return to the more familiar hop on hop off at intermediate stations service enjoyed by most travelers. You were fortunate to get a footplate ride, I hope this bought back good memories from your own trip.

Hello Neil, it's been a while since my last Driver's Eye view video, this one was a bit of a surprise as I didn't know there was a diesel running, I had taken mounts for a steam locomotive, so I quickly jerry-rigged a sucker mount for a diesel, it wasn't strong enough to mount on the outside of the window, but it was OK for the inside. I am really grateful to the crew for their help.

Hello Peter, the light conditions were challenging, even for my regular camera which normally copes with almost anything. If I'd had a bit more time I'd have asked to fix the camera to the outside of the locomotive, it was my own fault, I'd packed clamps for fixing the camera to a steam locomotive, as luck would have it I had an old GoPro suction mount, not ideal, but better than nothing. I was very grateful to the crew for allowing me to place a camera in the cab. I'm currently editing a non driver's eye view of the event, it should be ready by the weekend. Take care. Tim.

Tim, it was well worth capturing and publishing. My untrained opinion was entirely a personal, especially as your video quality is so frequently beyond question, vibrant and colourful. The subject and cab view were fine.

It's the "butt" of many a rude joke 😊

This railway was still open when I used to travel all over Southern England on runabout tickets, I regret never travelling over it. This and the West Somerset Railway are both wonderful heritage railways today that should not exist because as you say the lines should never have closed in the first place.
