I was lucky enough to watch the sunset from Sacre Coeur with my baby from the Netherlands. That was in June-July 2011. We met on the internet, and our first meeting & whirlwind tour through Western Europe was like a honeymoon. She visited me 6 months later, then I visited her again (twice), but neither of us were able to emigrate to the other's country. We both preferred I go there. Paris was beautiful. She was beautiful. Probably still is. Lost contact about a year ago. Life goes on. How do we deal with that?

The more I hear this song the more I like it. It reminds me of visiting London (yes, I know Sacre Coeur is in Paris) last December, a few months after my divorce and realizing my old life is behind me. I can go home, to what I've always known, or go forward with (literally) the entire world before me. I heard this song for the first time a couple months later and it always reminds me that my future is up to me. It is a bittersweet choice, but I know which I prefer today.
