That's really funny because my high school told me I would never goto college because of my learning disability. I graduated with 2 degrees 9 years later. It took me longer than everyone else, but I did it. Everyone thinks because you have a disability can't do it. We can do it just not the same as an able person. It might take us longer but we can!

My mother told me that because I was a size 14 that I couldn't become a lifeguard. She said it was too physically demanding and that because my brother, who was extremely fit, had difficulty doing it, that I couldn't. It was impossible to her. I'm from Canada btw and the lifeguarding cert is very difficult because the standard is one of the highest in the world. So, I decided that in my head "fuck you. I can" because I wanted to anyways, I'd prove her wrong. I went to the pool everyday for MONTHS and practiced. In the end, I passed the exam twice - once for the NLS Pool and a second time for the NLS Waterpark. Then I took it further and got extra Lifesaving & Red Cross certifications & even got my Pool Operators Level 1 certification. I loved teaching swimming in particular and I got to show her and my snarky asshole brother that I can do better than him lol.

People don't realise that a lot of people with some extra fat actually have a lot of muscles, because their body needs more muscle to be able to move around. For example, a fat person who has a good posture often have much more back muscles than a thin person with a good posture.

Thank you Molly. This moved me because it is so true. I am 19 and I've been dancing contemporary for 4 years and I recently started ballet. I've realized dancing is what I want to do but I've always thought "it's too late, I should have started when I was a child". And you know what? It isn't too late. It's gonna be hard, but I'm going to do it. Even if not a single person is going to believe in it, I am. Thank you ❤ p.s. well done for surfing, it looks so scary

I was basically told by my teacher of music that I couldn't sing. And for a while, I believed that and got very insecure about my singing (especially since I had been bullied in general and had been told I couldn't sing before). After my insecurity I just got angry at both him and myself and I wanted to "prove him wrong". Since than I have been singing in a rockband for a while and gotten compliments for my singing from people and now I've gotten to join some kind of music-theater (not a musical!) group, which I had to audition for. I still remember that teacher sometimes and the drive to show anyone what I can do (musically) just enhances.

Hi Molly! I found you from your recent video with Shane Dawson and have been binge watch your amazing content since. I am going through a lot right now and just turned 18. Your message in this video really spoke to me about how "no one can tell you what you can and can not do". It is exactly what I needed to hear as I am becoming an adult and have a lot of pressure on me from my family on what my next step in life should be and what I can and can not accomplish. You are definitely an inspiration to blind and sighted people alike and I hope to one day to be able to effect peoples lives like you just did mine. You may be blind but the way you see life is incredible. Thank you. heart Chloe.

Last year we were presenting something for around 10 minutes in front of the class. This was in English class. I was very nervous and had a nervous breakdown an hour before I had to present. Therefore my presentation went awfully bad. My teacher then told me that I should consider changing English course because I'd just fail this one. He didn't care about any other task I had done in the course, it was all about the presentation. That same teacher is my psychology teacher as well and he also said he was worried about my psychology course. In all of the psychology tests I have done very well so it was very unexpected and confusing. For a long time I felt stupid and not welcome to his lessons because I didn't feel as if I could ever be good enough. He's the kind of teacher that only sees your mistakes and thinks the worst of you if you make one.

I did not expect to be so moved by this story. I found myself tearing up because I think this is a lesson that everyone can relate to and learn from, regardless of their physical conditions. People will always try to define you and tell you what you can and can't do because of these notions they have about what life is supposed to look like for everyone, but one size does not fit all. If someone tells you that you can't do something, it says more about them than it does about you. You are an inspiration. ❤️

Hi Molly, I have been binge-watching your channel for a couple of weeks now, and I have the perfect story from my life to respond to this video. (I think it is, anyway) When I was in High School, my mom told me that if I got in a serious relationship at a young age, I would end up pregnant, in an unhappy relationship and shacked up with no way out. I met the love of my life just a couple years later during my first semester at college. We have not had children, we live on our own, we both have steady jobs and we are very much in love. The only things we didn't do to prove her 100% wrong is neither of us finished college. (My intended future career doesn't require one) Thankfully, she has come around to see that we are doing well for ourselves, but it will take some time for us to heal from her negativity in the beginning of our relationship. Your channel and your unending positive nature is an inspiration to me. I hope to one day be as successful as you are. I am currently working on a novel and now that I realize how hard it is to find accessible books, I will make sure to also have an audio version recorded should it be published.

I know this video is old but I wanted to share my tidbit of a story anyway. So I have an anxiety disorder and when I get nervous I stutter and shake or tremble and this usually comes out when I speak in front of people. So I have always wanted to be in a play because I love the idea of acting but I was scared to do it. I went to my best friend and told her that I wanted to audition and she said that I could never do any public speaking because of my anxiety. I was really hurt because this person was usually amazingly supportive but she had just shot me down off the bat. So to prove to myself that I could, I joined the speech/debate team and went to all of the meets and won my own ribbons and grew so much as a person. I tried out for my school’s play and I didn’t make it but it didn’t really slow me down, but instead encouraged me to practice with speech and try again next year when I’m more comfortable. I’m getting to do these things I never would have imagined despite the fact that I have to practice not stuttering or stumbling and even when I preform I will sometimes shake or tremble but I’m putting it aside to become this other person that I have always dreamed to be.

You are so incredibly inspirational. I'm visually impaired to the point that I am unable to drive, this past january I was offered a dream job that did not in any way include driving as an essential job function (its an office job). After my pre-employment physical and learning about my vision and inability to drive they REVOKED my job offer. I know this feeling all too well, Having them tell me I can't have the job based on the fact that I can't drive was so frustrating and almost defeated me especially because Uber and Lyft have been my source of transportation for years. Bottom line is I totally get this feeling. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I have never found a KZfaqr I can relate to so well

I know exactly " that feeling" you described. I have disabilities and severe chronic daily pain/ptsd from cancer as well as major traumatic abuse and losses in my life. I get dismissed often by ppl when I share my health situation. It hurts every single time no matter what because they don't even know me or care to and definitely don't have empathy for me but because I can't do all the extreme physical activities everyone seems to need a partner to do, to them I'm not worth even getting to know even when we have had many other things in common. It's sucks enough and is so uncomfortable to have to divulge very intimate health details to total strangers but then to be judged for it too. Judged on things that have been completely out of my control in life. How unfair, because I totally feel they should be obligated to let me know right away how much of a complete insensitive shallow a**hole they are !! Lol. Thanks for sharing...I'm sure so many ppl can relate as it's very hard to draw the line between being forthcoming about things like that but also protecting ourselves from ppl that look to take advantage of those that are showing some "vulnerability". I was targeted by a narcassist in my past and nearly died from the abuse and I know I was vulnerable to that because I had been made to feel so unworthy of love over and over again and sadly very ill ppl can sense that in others and prey on it. I love your message in this video ...such a great outlook and I'm so glad it lead to such a positive thing in your life.

I understand why it hurt you. When someone tells you they don't want to hang out with you or date you because of something you can't change, it hurts. I remember being told by my peers that I couldn't hang out with them because my eyebrows looked different.

I got so excited when you mentioned Simi Valley. I lived there for so long. I was born and raised in Southern California for half of my life. I think I had a pretty good life out there and my friendships were strong. When I moved to Colorado, the bullying I experienced increased to the point I actually attended home-school my freshman year of high school. I have certain disabilities that aren't visible and that is another thing that is important. Visible disabilities are important and so are those that aren't so visible. I really enjoy watching your videos. I kind of heard of you a few years ago but didn't watch anything on your channel. My feed on KZfaq recommended I watch one of your videos and I am so happy I clicked your video. I would actually like to meet you one day. I hope you are still in California because I would totally have someone take me out there to see you like over my summer or winter vacation sometime. Thank you for your videos. :)

This was very moving, Molly! People can be pretty shallow sometimes, but it's awesome that you took a comment like that as an opportunity to learn something new! Bradon is very lucky to have a friend like you :) And I loved the video message from you two by the way! He was the friend you mentioned at the end, right? ;)

Unbelievable. Any guy would be lucky to get the chance to meet/date you. Instead of asking you about your disability, he decided to assume what you can/can't do. You go girl 💪🏻

you are so beautiful inside and out. Screw that guy. I'm so happy for you that you got to go surfing! As I sighted person I have always wanted to try surfing, but have been super nervous about trying it. I have to say after hearing your experience, the next chance I get I am going to get my ass out there and try surfing. You are so inspirational :)

I agree wholeheartedly with this, within reason. I would love to be a professional body piercer and tattoo artist, but being blind, I can't. Simple as that. It's important to remember that, while you can do everything you want, that's also limited to what's within your own personal limitations.

That is one of my biggest pet peeves when people tell me I can't do something, when I was in labor with my daughter my now ex-husband told me that there was no way I would be able to have her without medication and that I wasn't strong enough to do it without an epidural or anything else and I proved him wrong! 6 hours of active Labor no pain medication and I had my beautiful daughter who is now 4 years old :-)

When I studied at university there were SO DAMN MANY professors telling me that I couldn't do stuff or couldn't know stuff, and that only my male classmates could do or know those kinds of things. This happened in Sweden, from 2010 and forward. Though I've seen some improvement in recent years, the first four or so years at university were very tiring in this aspect.

That attitude is great. Even if you “can’t” do it - don’t knock it til you try it!
